#Afghanistan: Islamic State Wilāyah Khorāsān claims responsibility for suicide attack targeting the Afghān Ṭālibān’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul city. The suicide bomber has been identified as: Khyber al-Qandahāri.
Details: Amaq reports that, according to “security sources,” the suicide bomber was able to reach the HQs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul city after bypassing all the barriers & security measures imposed by the Afghān Ṭālibān.
Khyber al-Qandahāri then detonated his explosive vest in the midst of a gathering of the staff, guards and security officials working in the Ministry. At least 20 people (including diplomats) were killed, Amaq added. Dozens others were also injured.
Amaq reveals that this attack came at a time when a special training course (on rules of dealing with foreign politicians and visitors) was being held for the Afghān Ṭālibān’s “foreign employees.”
Note: The statement released by the Islamic State Wilāyah Khorāsān does not mention the alleged presence of the Chinese officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as was reported earlier when the news of the blast emerged.
The spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry says that no Chinese citizen was harmed or killed in yesterday's suicide attack near Ṭālibān’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul city.
Asmat is the lone Ṭālibān fighter who was killed in yesterday's suicide attack in Kabul city. The others who lost their lives were either diplomats (who worked under the previous administration) or civilians.
The death toll has risen to 23. Those who lost their lives were all civil servants of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 4 Ṭālibān fighters have also been injured. Yesterday, Emergency NGO reported that around 40 patients had arrived following the blast.
In its coverage of the suicide attack near MoFA in Kabul on Wednesday, an-Nabaʾ magazine, just like Amaq, has not mentioned the presence of Chinese or any other foreign dignitaries inside the building at the time of the suicide blast.
