There is one aspect of the #CambridgeAnalytica scandal that has never before been revealed - a concerted black propaganda campaign run by elements of British intelligence to frame the company as compromised by Russia. Now, it must be.

#IntegrityInitiative, a secret Foreign Office unit run by military and intelligence operatives, took the lead in this fraud. They fed journalists, including @carolecadwalla, material implicating Cambridge Analytica - and Arron Banks - as in bed with the Kremlin.

By fraudulently linking Cambridge Analytica to Russia, and the firm to the victory of Brexit and the election of Trump, those events were effectively transformed into direct, deliberate attacks by the Kremlin on the U.S. and Britain. And it laid the foundations of World War III.

Via Twitter it routinely targeted Banks, publicised fake news about Russian interference in Brexit, and amplified the lurid claims of pathological liar @chrisinsilico. Most of these tweets have since been deleted, for reasons unclear.

On top of stoking tensions with Moscow, #IntegrityInitiative also sought to distract public attention from the firm's innately British nature - and thus stifle awkward discussion about London's post-imperial meddling in the Global South via shadowy contractors.

#IntegrityInitiative may also have had a cynical self-interest in sabotaging the story. Gaby van den Berg and Steve Tatham, two veteran psyops professionals individuals linked to CA parent company SCL, were (or are???) part of its clandestine "cluster" network...

As it happens, within days of #CambridgeAnalytica's implosion, Gaby van den Berg set up a new company, EMIC, and has provided much the same services to Western militaries ever since. I wrote about this - and her involvement with an #MI6 cutout - here:
