🧵: In the comments of this post - which the actions in the video are horrendous enough - it is referred to as how all elected officials should be treated this way, and we should bring back guillotines back into every square for politicians. The irony is there is this sense 1/
that we need to get rid of all of these horrible politicians and somehow good ones back… but honest question here. Why the fuck does anyone want to get involved in this?! I had someone reach out to me the other night to say how much they missed me on Council and hoped I was 2/
doing okay and I replied how great I am, and how much happier I am off of Council. It’s the first time in 3 years I have gone a couple months without death threats, threats of being sued or charged or horrible comments in my inbox or voicemail. It’s actually a weight off 3/
my shoulder. But yet, we wonder why so many people were acclaimed. Why we can’t get people to run for office. It’s shit like this. I’ve actually apologized to a few people I encouraged to run after hearing stories of what they are dealing with. It’s embarrassing. 5/
The worst part is we have CPC leader @PierrePoilievre who claims to be against this division and inciting hate, MPs like @mferreriptbokaw calling the Prime Minister names like we are in kindergarten and other CPC MPs being VERY quiet. Poilivere has yet to address what 6/
happened in Hamilton because those are his supporters, his base. He can’t speak out against it which means he’s *feeding* into all of this - he’s not about being against hate and division. He’s running to SUPPORT it.
But let’s all still act confused on why our country is 7/
like this and this behaviour is still happening. We sit and wonder why more good people don’t want to get into public office. Let’s all admit we aren’t okay. We will be better for it.
🧵: I fundamentally support the work of @Forgotten519 and the advocacy piece and the work we all have to do to support all community members, including those who are unhoused. In rural communities, we struggle with homelessness and lack of housing, although it does not present 1/
as it does in the City. The Province in its decades of work in social services has developed a “urban-centric” model in which those who require social services must go into cities to get resources. The current #ldnont-#Middlesex service manager model is the perfect example of 2/
this work. That is why when reading through threads, including previous tweets of @NeedlesOnNews, I struggle that the responsibility solely lies on #ldnont’s shoulders to fix. #Ldnont, by virtue of decades long modelling has become the victim of an entire #SWOnt issue 3/
