Listen to this incredible short speech on the difference between the West and China. It's about infrastructure in developing nations.

Justin Lin, Chinese & World Bank Chief Economist, was shocked to find that West had no desire for large-scale projects.

#India #Africa #BRI
The West is run by bankers & Wall Street types, who focus on minimal expenditure and maximum returns in the shortest time possible.

But development of poor nations require enormous investment in infrastructure. And nobody understands this and has proven this better than China.
There are lots of Indian elites working at the IMF and the World Bank. These people just parrot the Western talking points and do harm to India.

World Bank and IMF also have kept Africa and Latin America down for decades by refusing to help them with infrastructure projects.
China rejected this financial capitalism and first focused on its own infrastructure.

Later, Chinese developed their own financial institutions like China Development Bank to fund the Belt and Road Initiative.
BTW, this financial capitalist attitude also affects the USA, whose infrastructure is like a sh*thole country now.

After dropping numerous atomic and even hydrogen bombs on the beautiful Marshall Islands… and then ignoring them for decades… the US has rediscovered its de facto colony. Why?

China! ImageImageImage
After WW2, the US developed hydrogen bombs which were 1000x more powerful than the atom bombs dropped on Japan.

Of course, you can’t test them in the “garden.” Thus, they were tested in the “jungle” far far from America — 5000 miles from Los Angeles in Marshall Islands. Image
~100 such atomic bombs were exploded in the Marshall Islands. The inhabitants were forcibly removed to neighbouring islands and were told that they would be fine.

Of course, they all suffered from radiation and all kinds of diseases.

This article makes the mistake of comparing China to pre-WW2 Germany and Japan.

It’s written by Robert Kagan the neocon husband of Victoria Nuland. 🤮

Ergo, obviously a trash, but let’s discuss it quickly.

China wants to reunite with Taiwan, a symbol of the Century of Humiliation.

But China is not going to start wars with all its neighbors. What’s the freaking point?

China is winning in the current global system. No need to disrupt it.
Remember that Japan was just following the imperialist playbook. In those days, to get really rich, you had to have colonies.

No such need now.

A popular Copium of anti-China crowd is, "CCP lies about GDP." OK, let's look at statistics that cannot be fudged -- like Exports.

Here's China's exports (goods & services) from 1992-2022. Whopping 65-fold growth.

Safe to say that China's GDP grew in proportion. 🧵 Image
Export/import numbers are verified by other countries.
The American establishment is stuck in an ideological war.

Having repeatedly claimed that it has the best economic system in the world, the US is forced to tarnish the "China Model."

If you share some stats about China, make sure to update it often! 😂 Like the chart below with 2021 data.

Now, China has 1.8 million public chargers and 3.4 million private chargers for electric vehicles! Total 5.2 million.

That’s 2x the figure from a year ago!

#EV
In 2022 alone, China added:

🔹600,000 public chargers, and
🔹2 million private chargers!

Artificial intelligence => most transformational technology in our life. #AI can be classified into four areas:

🔹Internet
🔹Business
🔹Perception
🔹Automation (robots)

There are only two players in the world: China and USA.

China leads in two, US leads in one.

#KaiFuLee
While the U.S. is very good in basic research and new concepts, China is excellent in transforming the ideas to practical ideas.

China has a huge number of #AI engineers who are hardworking. And they work in incremental progress, rather than dreaming of the “next big thing.”
This is why TikTok is so addictive and successful. The secret sauce is an advanced and super smart #AI algorithm that figures out which video you would like the most!

China will be transforming into a high-income country with a newer kind of economy, jobs and technology.

However, the focus of this thread is on the past -- how China's low-tech past laid the foundations for the future.

(Many key lessons for India here...)
How could have China's low-wage jobs helped the country? Workers making $1 an hour... while polluting the country... sounds horrible.
Well, here is how Chinese government turned the bad situation into a winning hand.

First was scale. China decided not to do *some* manufacturing but become the "factory of the world."
