Today in downtown #Minneapolis and across the U.S., #RiseUpForPeltier events are happening for the international day of solidarity with Indigenous political prisoner #LeonardPeltier. Peltier's supporters say he was wrongfully convicted in 1977 of killing two FBI agents. 🧵 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Last Fall, the Leonard Peltier 'Walk to Justice' went from Minneapolis, the birthplace of the American Indian Movement (AIM), which Peltier co-founded, all the way to Washington DC with the purpose of raising awareness around Peltier's case. [Videos] ↕️ unicornriot.ninja/2022/leonard-p…
As #AIM started their 1,103-mile walk to DC last year, Unicorn Riot spoke with Kathy Peltier, #LeonardPeltier's youngest daughter, who said "There was false affidavits, and ballistic testing didn't match, and so he is innocent even after 46 years." ↕️
On Nov. 13, 2022 the AIM ‘Walk for Justice’ concluded with the demand to release political prisoner #LeonardPeltier. Nearly 2,000 supporters walked the last mile as the AIM song was heard along with prayer, drumming & chanting “Free Peltier!” ↕️
Indiana and Kentucky AIM Director @rachel_thunder says that the inspiration to start the 1,103-mile journey they dubbed the Walk to Justice started with a dream, where she was transported to Peltier’s prison cell. ↕️
Two months ago, seven senators including Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) & Bernie Sanders (I-VT) co-signed a letter to President Biden requesting the president grant clemency to political prisoner Leonard Peltier & commute the remainder of his prison sentence. unicornriot.ninja/2022/asking-fo…

'Cop City': 5/31/22 Atlanta Public Safety Training Center Community Stakeholders Advisory Committee Zoom Mtg
In this 'Cop City' advisory meeting, Co-Chairs Alison Clark and Sharon Williams move a vote to kick environmental engineer Lily Ponitz off the committee.
They openly discuss the vote as an act of retaliation for statements Ponitz made to the media and to Atlanta City Council.
Ponitz, the only engineer in these meetings not bankrolled by the Atlanta Police Foundation, had contacted media & local officials about alleged falsehoods and apparently deliberate oversights in the environmental review phase of the 'Cop City' project.
On Feb. 15, 2022, environmental engineer Lily Ponitz resigned as secretary of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee due to what she called "passive aggressive" "condescension" by Committee Chair & local HOA Pres. Alison Clark.
Context: Ponitz had previously called out Alison Clark for deleting links to news articles Clark saw as "in opposition" to 'Cop City' from the minutes of meetings of the Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee.
Clark replied to this by implying Ponitz was "disparaging" her.
At a Jan. 2022 meeting of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee, Atlanta Police Foundation staff & committee chair Alison Clark artfully dodged concerns about lead pollution in land slated for the training center & nearby public parks.
Committee member Lily Ponitz expressed worry that cleaning up known lead contamination already at the site was being "selectively excluded from the site plan", including areas recently pitched to the public by @andreforatlanta as parks for Atlanta families w/ children to enjoy.

At a Dec. 7, 2021 meeting of the 'Cop City' Advisory Committee, "community stakeholders" wanted input on the handling of protests against the project, & to ensure police training at the site stressed de-escalation and nonviolent methods.
Committee Chair Alison Clark (also Pres. of a local Homeowners Association), promptly shut down these discussions on behalf of the Atlanta Police Foundation.
Clark has also cheered on police violence against #StopCopCity protesters in her capacity as Chair.
'Cop City' Plan Brings Surveillance to Area Neighborhoods
In a Nov. 7, 2021 Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee meeting, the Atlanta Police Foundation revealed that the 'Cop City' plan includes installing a swarm of @flock_safety spy devices throughout the local community.

In the above clip, comments by Marshall Freeman of Atlanta Police Foundation & Committee Chair Alison Clark imply that data from Flock License Plate Readers (LPRs) owned by the Foundation would be shared directly w Homeowners Associations.
On Dec. 29, 2022, hundreds of New Yorkers gathered outside the Jackson Heights Public Library in Queens, where a drag story hour was taking place. On one side roughly 40 people protesting, incl. #ProudBoys, neo-Nazis, anti-vaccine activists, & conservative Internet personalities.
Protesters against drag story hour were outnumbered by their opponents: over 300 community defenders, intent on ensuring the event continued safety and without disruption. This report outlines key figures involved and the structure of the police response.
