This week I am hoping that the varied content I will tweet will be interesting, create conversation & perhaps inspire in some form.

#Thankyou to @MelissaSweetDr & the @CroakeyNews for letting me once again host @WePublicHealth I must be getting close to hosting almost 10 times!
The original premise for hosting was regarding #SystemsThinking incorporated in #PublicHealth #MPH teaching @CAphia - but we will also be incorporating #IWD2023 along with some live tweeting from the first day of this awesome conference
Since last year I have been following the excellent @TessaRDavis trying to learn how to improve how I tweet (amongst other things) so this will be a real test for me. For all #PublicHealth academics I strongly recommend you follow her as she has great tips for students.
(and her newsletter is a dream to forward onto them when they need a nudge about particular things....such as PowerPoint slides!)
So on this Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning I will start by exploring #SystemsThinking & #PublicHealth, the value of not only incorporating systems thinking into curriculum content, but also using it to inform learning design.

While explaining our approach I will also introduce you to all our co-designers (who range from being awesome on twitter to never actually here!) which include @LarnzLarnz @Keliyari13 @jStuchbery @Riley_Therese @TonyRMilne @DrRoisinMcGrath
While doing so I would love to know what others are doing regarding incorporation of #SystemsThinking in #PublicHealth teaching & learning @CAPHIA1 & what current & recent public graduates views are @PHAA_SYPPH @jennyvcao

Side note - I want to say don't let this discourage you from hosting @WePublicHealth. Here are my tips:

1. Try & find people to tweet with u during the week. When I've hosted with even one person its made a huge difference, particularly when you've run out of ideas (or get sick)
2. Plan out the content in draft form for the week. Even if this is on a scrap of paper. You might have guessed from my tweeting this week that I had planned Mon, Tues & Thurs. I had guessed it would be easy to tweet about #IWD on Weds but I didn't plan my final 3 days.
3. Starting your tweet Acknowledging the Country on is normal practice for @croakey but also an important choice to make when you host. Try to include photographs. As you can see thats easy for me to do but if you don't take a million pictures like me just get 7 in preparation.

Late night tweet...which may go unnoticed...but heres hoping someone sees it & has ideas. Applying decolonisation to Learning Design for this unit (& others) meant talking about issues in #PublicHealth research & evidence. I find this to be a super complex teacher/student dynamic
Many students trust the research & evidence they've been given in their studies implicitly so when you start talking about decolonisation of #PublicHealth you ended up in a complex situation which can move towards conflict (especially if you are Indigenous or person of colour).

These women helped me to begin to build the #SystemsThinking content while the talented & patient #LearningDesigner Nick Lekakis kept me in line from a teaching & learning viewpoint.

Prior to VU I hadn't worked with a Learning Designer before, in fact I didn't know they existed!
Nick unfortunately (or intelligently) is not a social media person but you can meet him here in this excellent explainer from @victoriauninews about what #LearningDesign is connected.vu.edu.au/the-road-to-le…
In the video Nick states that Learning Design = #collaboration to him. This was powerful because #collaboration is not only central to #PublicHealth but also #SystemsThinking.
