A history lesson for the people of #Lagos, as taught by Oba Rilwan Akiolu, about how Lagos came to be. Pay attention!
Oba Akiolu: “Modern day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the Oba of Benin, Prince Ado was the first Oba of Lagos, the son of the Bini King, Prince Ado, named the town Eko until the Portuguese explorer Ruy de Segueira changed the Maritime town to Lagos.”
Read the FULL statement of Oba Akiolu here ⬇️. No one should argue, ever again, that the Edo people founded Lagos. So when I am told, by SOME so-called Lagosians, to “go back to Edo State”, because I support @PeterObi, my soon-to-be president, y’all know where to go! 🖕🏾😂
An informed fan of @SheffieldUnited says @Dozymmobuosi is about to be named as the new owner of the club. “Announcement imminent”, he says. Hmmmmm.
I have just spoken with a colleague that spent two hours with Dozy at a London hotel last week. He says he is yet to be convinced by the defence that Dozy gave to him.
I also understand that the @EFL is yet to clear Dozy. But that Trevor Birch gave him a comfort statement that he has been using to push the narrative that the EFL has cleared him. I understand that as at last week, they needed him to offer proof of funds...
It’s a big shame that #Rwanda, a smaller and far less resourced country than #Nigeria@Nigeria, the so-called “giant of Africa” 😂😏 has better, more sophisticated security checks at their major airport. I’ll explain…
Before getting to the main #Kigali airport terminal, the major security checks are done. Cars taking passengers to the airport are put through an automatic car scanner, while the driver of the car and passengers go through their own checks, within the same zone.
After the driver and passengers go through the body scanners and metal detectors, they wait for the car to come through the automated 🚗 scanner. If it’s ‘clean’, it rolls through and the driver and passenger(s) get in and drive to the terminal…
A life lesson: About a week and half ago, at @PrinceEbeano supermarket in Lekki, I picked this up during my shop. It cost just over 4k Naija. Instead of putting in my shopping basket, I put it in my pocket & forgot it was there…
I paid for everything else I picked up, except the key holder. When I went back to shop today & bought yet more stuff, I took a replica key-holder to the cashier & told them to use the barcode to charge me for the key-holder I took last time and didn’t pay for. She did just that.
I could have gotten away with not paying for it. But I can’t live with taking something I didn’t pay for. Integrity is what you exercise when no one is looking and when you can do something wrong and get away with it, with no consequences.
This Tuesday, I spoke to a @CAF_Online executive committee member about the precarious financial situation hanging over the confederation, in which they must pay $50m to @Lagardere_SE_fr for breaking their marketing contract. This is what he said. ⬇️
“Osasu, I really want to avoid talking on these issues. But I really appreciate your concern. You have very good points and I personally want to talk to the @CAF_Online administration, about these very serious matters you’ve raised.”
“I will going to the #FIFAWorldCup final and will get there at the weekend, watch it and return home. There are too many things to attend to back in……. (No, I wasn’t going to mention the city. Or country. That would have been a dead giveaway, no? 😄)
There is no #Qatar2022#FIFAWorldCup radio programme coming out of #Africa like the @eagle7fm.com & Eagle 103.7FM Special that I, @osasuo, am anchoring from 1800 GMT on Monday, December 12th. Here’s my stellar panel of coaches, former players, renowned writers & broadcasters…
An account, from @KeirRadnedge, former @WorldSoccerMag editor & @AIPSmedia football commission chair: “Late in the match at Lusail, colleagues up to the left of me started shouting for medical aid. Journos moved chairs so @GrantWahl could be laid down…
“… A medical team was quickly on hand and must have spent up to half an hour of treatment, including perpetual CPR, before he was placed on a stretcher and carried out… It is very upsetting (this tragedy) particularly for those who were around him.”
My sympathy to @celinegounder, his wife, and the entire Wahl family. He was just too young to go this way. He had so much more to give in life…
