I decided to join Tinder a few days ago. I know, I know what my mind and ego would say, big boy like me no suppose dey join Tinder. No matter as jungle hard reach, Lion no suppose dey chop grass. I should always always aspire to pespire, aspire to never retire .
A thread
Ogbeni, if Jungle choke, even Lion dey chop grass oo. Don't tell me nonsense.
Don't get me wrong, I personally have no qualms with Tinder you know, I've joined it once or twice back in Nigeria, but I never liked the idea of people judging you by your pics,
#Philly #COVID19 #Lagos
always felt objectifying, yknow, like people were being placed on a slave auction table, all your qualities are reduced to a few pics, all your intelligence and quirks don't matter, it feeds off the halo effect (Google it), I dunno, maybe it's just me and my sentiments.

How To Manage Your Finances During The Lock Down
By: Jide Adeola | Partner at PwC, Finance Analyst and Management Consultant. Image
i) First step: Don’t panic
Although this sounds basic, it is very important. In the past week, we have seen a significant surge in the number of households purchasing items on panic. Image
When you buy things under duress or with panic, you may end up acquiring things that are not essential for waiting this period out. You should also not make any investment decisions under duress.

Two things happened today that made me pause and rethink Corporate #Nigeria a bit.

First, my account officer sent me a text wishing me well. I replied and realised that @MTNNG had given me 300 free SMS each month for this #covid19 #coronavirus period.
It made me go and check the list that one of my people @sbmintelligence is building about the help that the private sector is giving #Nigeria this bad seasons, and I must say that what I have seen is heartwarming. I will list some, and feel free to add to it when I'm done...
First off, @TheOfficialSIP have set up emergency numbers for people in the Igbo speaking parts of #Nigeria to reach in case of an emergency. They work, and ndi Igbo need them badly since our state governments tend to be so useless.

The paratransit mode needs to be confined to where it belongs. Where it will be playing a feeder role for BRT and other formal modes. Nigeria is about the only country where paratransit competes with formal modes of public transportation.
Some would argue that paratransit is creating employment for our teeming youths. That is very true. It is for the same reason the government did not consider outright ban.
The exclusion of paratransit from major routes means higher patronage and higher income for BRT.
That in turn would mean more buses, wider coverage, improved ridership and more pax trips at affordable prices.
Unless we do not want the BRT anymore. But in the history of public transportation, the BRT is rated as one of the best things that happened to urban mobility in the

As I journey back to #Lagos, the nightmare of #traffic dawn on me again. Trying to seek solution instead of complain, I noticed the major reoccurring cause of traffic is bottleneck across junctions/turning, our junctions/turning are not well planned. #FERMA @tundefashola @nitpng
I studied #URP & one of the fundamentals of #TransportationPlanning is to avoid reduce the number junctions/turning especially along major transport corridor hence the need for service lane.@tundefashola @nitpng @Gidi_Traffic @trafficbutter @EniadeYomi @Mz_dholarike @abiolanoble
Since it's almost impossible to have reduced turnings and service lane on all transport corridors, I strongly feel the need to expand the U-turning points should be considered. It's the highest causing factor for traffic. @tundefashola

Let’s have some straight talk on #Soleimani, shall we?
1. Suleimani took command of the Quds Force over 20 years ago and his job is to reshape the Middle East in Iran’s favor: thru military force, by assassinating rivals and arming allies.
2. His twenty year focus is directing
a network of militant groups that has killed hundreds of U.S in #Iraq and others.
3. I know of only ONE American who has ever met him, John Maguire, describing him as soft-spoken yet the most powerful man in the MidEast. Thoughtful, strategic, smart, charismatic - 100% dedicated
4. He personally runs #Iran’s war in #Syria and brought in thousands of #Quds Force when #Assad’s army began to fail.
5. Suleimani and #Nasrallah of #Hezbollah #Lebanon are old friends and cooperate globally where Hezbollah has performed terrorist acts at Iran’s behest.

thinking out loud about #WWIll in the #nigerian #tech space.
It all started with the then big boys of #innovation
with #ridehailing services. #Uber came into Nigeria and we realized taxis were not enough. whether it was because it was a popular international service
or because it had a good PR for representing your class or status, truth is #uber really did solve a problem. instead of walking to parks or bus stops looking for a taxi, your ride comes to you.
You have the right to choose what ride comes to pick you up based on your pocket
let's not even talk about convenience, the good Air conditioning that these guys used to offer during rides (not certain anymore) or the fact that it gave people the ability to have multiple jobs/sources of income once you have a vehicle.

Music really IS the food of the soul.

The best period of my life (I think this applies for most people) was between ages 18 and 24 as a free-spirited student with no real responsibilities.

I have songs from that period playing right now, and I'm so happy. So much nostalgia...
Dunno which of you kiddies ever heard this song, but in its day, it rocked the fooking planet.

Macarena!!!
Once upon a time, there were no female rappers. Enter MC Lyte. She didn't open doors for those that came after her, no, she smashed them down.

1/ The country’s profile got bleaker this week for a host of reasons - impetuous regulatory behaviour, refugees left out in the cold, a needless rise in public recurrent spending and an unshackled rogue police squad.
2/ Nothing illustrates #Nigeria’s dysfunction as much as the minimum wage palaver. The ₦27,000 ($75) or even ₦30,000 ($83) is not much – those that earn it will hover around the poverty line.
3/ The issue is that even such a wage is beyond the capacity of @AsoRock to pay, and for many small businesses as well, this will represent a massive upswing in cost. There is a disconnect between value creation by the workforce, and how much they earn.

In a week where the North East got yet another military commander, we got a better look at overburdened infrastructure.

Elsewhere, as MTN gears up to enter the banks’ turf, concern over Nigeria's food import practices conjures a picture of a recently painted but creaking house.
The @MTNGroup's announcement is a positive for #Nigeria's economy as it substantiates previous comments by MTN that it has no plans to exit Nigeria despite its spat with @cenbank over alleged illegal fund repatriation.
The announcement ties into @MTNGroup’s strategy to become the biggest provider of mobile financial services in #Africa.

The telecoms-led drive to provide mobile money services will introduce a new interesting chapter in #Nigeria’s financial services sector.
