If you don’t think protecting tiny school children from being slaughtered with military style assault weapons at their elementary school is a pro-life issue, will you at least consider re-considering?
2-But the 2nd amendment…
There were cheers when the US Sp Ct ruled in Dobbs that a right to abortion was not rooted in our nation’s history or tradition or explicitly enumerated in the Bill of Rights. I am among those pleased at the opportunity to protect all human life.
3-the military style assault weapons being used repeatedly to terrorize & murder children & innocents going about their lives didn’t exist when the 2nd Amendment was written. AR-15s and other military/LE weapons weren’t even fathomable then & their protection shouldn’t be now.
4-so for all of you conflicted about guns & school shootings, do what you tell women facing unexpected pregnancy to do: choose life.
The right to life must trump competing rights, yes?
So choose the right to life for little children over the “right” to have assault weapons.
5- But it’s a heart issue, they’ll still get guns. (But it’s a heart issue, they’ll still have abortions.)
It’s more nuanced, so we can’t just ban these guns. (More nuanced, she can’t afford another child, she has 4.)
It’s her right to own that weapon (have that abortion)
6-Let me appeal practically to those who prioritize protecting preborn life first.
No one you need to persuade (not those w/ you) to protect preborn life is going to take you seriously if you want to protect the right to AR-15s more than the rights of children to live at school
7- Finally, pls consider how absolutely absurd it appears to people you need to persuade to be more upset about library drag shows or teaching racism to kids than you are about the abundant assault weapons perfectly legal on our streets & used to murder little children.
8-This is not a confiscate all guns thread - not at all. I love many people who ethically hunt. I also understand self protection issues.
This was a thread about military/LE style assault weapons that don’t belong loose in our society mowing down children in school. #ChooseLife

1- Lots of discussion about the Texas abortion situation. Genuinely pro-life people care about both women & unborn children. We are grateful for unborn children to be welcomed & protected AND support tangible support for pregnant moms—from both the public & private sectors.
2-Every serious person understands that a pregnant woman is carrying “a human life.” This is science. The disagreement centers around whether the human life is a “person” for purposes of legal protection. And then how to weigh the interests of the woman to bodily autonomy (cont)
3-against the interests of the fetus (little one) and the interest of the govt in protecting human life.
Of course women do and should have rights related our own bodies. The issue is that when pregnant, another human life is also at stake. Child’s location has implications
Thread/ #FosterCare#MentalIllness#Homelessness#Opportunity#Jesus I had the chance to meet the sweetest, most polite, grateful young man a few days ago. He was discharging from a psychiatric hospital, was homeless, jobless and without a single healthy person in his whole life
2- he spent his whole childhood in foster care & was then dumped at a homeless shelter when he turned 19. He had nothing. No job, no permanent family, no money. Nothing. Life on the streets brought drugs, crime, sadness, wandering, despair, suicidality.
3- this sweet kid told me he was a believer in Jesus. He had Jesus tattooed on his arm. He’d been sent by foster parents to Salvation Army Summer Church camps. We picked him up at a local shelter, which literally couldn’t be a sadder place; so in need of the light & love of Jesus
1- Thread #Life In my 25 years of leadership in the prolife moment at the state & national level, I’ve observed only a few things that have changed hearts & minds toward life re: abortion. One is personal experience with an ultrasound of an unborn child. They just didn’t realize
2-But seeing w/ their owns eyes a helpless & vulnerable unborn baby did something no slogan or political campaign ever could. The second thing I’ve observed is an up close encounter w/ a child who many would say should “obviously” been aborted b/c of the circumstances involved.
3-It causes one to think when playing catch with a little boy who’s mom was homeless & drug addicted with no way to care for a child. Yet there he is, smiling & laughing & experiencing joy (which, tragically, not all kids experience. See next point) The last patterned I’ve seen
1/ Thread: Here are some reasons I think the TGC piece on the US Church and Orphan Crisis misses the mark in significant ways. I’ve been involved in the Christian orphan care, adoption & foster care moments for 20 years. I’ve testified before Congress on the subject, met hundreds
2/ of prospective & adoptive parents & churches in more than 25 states, was at the start of the discussions of the Christian Alliance for Orphans & institutional scholarships for trauma informed training about adoption for Christian counselors and have 4 kids via FC adoption and
3/ I have NEVER heard an advocate say US churches could (or should) solve the global orphan crisis. We’ve understood that to be hubris smacking of colonialism. we understand in country churches are key &must be involved in prevention of family disruption by addressing its drivers
Thread: Modern Day Racism & White Evangelicals. Most white evangelicals I know would give a hearty amen to this statement by @BethMooreLPM without a thought as to the somewhat commonplace racist thoughts, words and actions that, tragically, continue to permeate our communities.
2/ In my experience, just my saying this would elicit rye rolls, scoffs, ‘get a grip’s reactions from many (maybe most) in my community. I’m going to give specific examples in this thread in effort to help those who genuinely don’t understand why this is a thing. Do not think
3/ b/c you may know where I’ve worked or worshipped that you know precisely where these examples have come from. You don’t. So don’t try, don’t embellish. Even as I, with trepidation, try to illuminate the reality I’ve experienced, many do not fit these examples & I’m thankful.
1/ #MentalHealth#Suicide#ParentPerspective#TeenSuicidality Just hung up phone with a family member of a teen girl who is suicidal. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare & it evokes pure terror. No one talks about it and parents often have no literal idea what to do.
2/ This thread is simply parent to parent support I wish I’d had. I share with full permission of my kids who share the belief that we want to comfort others with the comfort God gave us. (2 Cor)
3/ First, parent, you will feel terrified. The most important thing is to project love & nurture like never before. UBER NURTURE. And, be CALM & CONFIDENT with your child. “Sweetheart, we’re going to get you the help you need & we’ll be right there with you all the way.”
