ChatGPT currently hallucinates fake references. Here is my secret on how to use it to get 100% accurate references. 🧵

Install a chrome plugin called "WebChatGPT." There is a secret use of this chrome plugin that most people don't know about.

After installing the extension, open ChatGPT, you'll now see a button to turn on "web access." Turn this on and enable "10 results."

However, the secret part is in the next slide:

Instead of doing a world wide web search, enter the following command before your search query:

/site:scholar.google.com
OR

/site:pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
OR

/site:elicit.org

This will ensure that only published papers available on Google Scholar, Elicit and PubMed are cited.

Let's go through an example.

This is my exact query:
"/site:pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov how do you manage flail chest?"

Here are the results:

The references are now cited! They are also clickable and clicking on them will lead you to the original source/ website.

Running the same query on Google Scholar or Elicit will produce slightly different results.

Limitation: It currently only cites 10 references per query.

However, you can run it repeatedly for sub-queries.

E.g: "How to manage flail chest in the first 24 hours?" or "Pain management in flail chest"

If this method fails you, you can use Bing AI Chat for accurate results. Just ask for "original papers only" as part of your prompt.

Reminder: Use AI responsibly and ethically! AI can speed-up your work but will not replace your natural ideation and writing.
