1/ Are you after a new role in the arts, creativity, culture or heritage?

Ever wondered about THE BEST websites to find such opportunities?

Below is a list of *40* that I know of; please share any that you think I've missed!

🎨🎭📚🎞️🪨🎶

#ArtsJobs #MuseumJobs #HeritageJobs Image
2/ There are LOADS of such jobs out there atm, not least due to the new Arts Council contracts kicking in;

I start a fab new role @bradford2025 tomorrow, but have been asked for tips a lot lately - so I've compiled this for everyone, at all career stages!

Please do share 🙏🙌✨
3/ Obvious place to start: @GuardianJobs. Good UK-wide coverage, but quite weighted towards London. Some orgs don’t list here because of the cost. Also tweeting @GJ_Arts & @GJ_Arts_London

jobs.theguardian.com
4/ @Jobsgopublic (also @Jobsgoalerts) – the main portal for local government jobs. Local government funding remains in a tight spot, but you’ll still find museum, library and other cultural jobs here.

jobsgopublic.com
5/ Quite a lot of cultural/creative sector-facing roles come up through the @UKCivilService, and not only at DCMS:

civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk
6/ Likewise - though you’ll need to sift through many academic and administrative roles - many universities have museums, theatres, libraries and wider creative opportunities, so @jobsacuk is a good source

jobs.ac.uk
7/ A last general one, before we go full-on arts/creative/heritage - @CharityJob is also worth a look

charityjob.co.uk
8/ On to the specialist aggregators, @artsjobs – the listings site maintained by Arts Council England (@ace_national) - is excellent;

Great regional coverage, more arts than heritage. Quite a lot of freelance roles, too:

artsjobs.org.uk
9/ @artsjobsonline – similar name, different thing. Good, independently collated advertising site.

artsjobsonline.com
10/ @ArtsJobFinder – the jobs listings section of @ArtsPro.

Not ultra-high volume, but very high quality listings, especially for more senior roles.

artsprofessional.co.uk
11/ The @ACEnterprises website carries listings for public and commercial jobs in museums, theatre, and heritage - especially management and leadership roles:

culturalenterprises.org.uk/job-board
12/ National Museum Jobs – maintained by the National Museum Directors’ Council (@nmdcnews), this is mainly a listing site for England’s national and major regional museums.

All jobs at the national (ie directly DCMS-funded) museums are listed here:

nationalmuseums.org.uk/jobs
13/ Museum Jobs – independent, UK-wide and occasionally international site listing jobs across the museums sector. Seemingly absent from Twitter…!

museumjobs.com
14/ The @MuseumsAssoc website. I think a lot of people forget to look here because they imagine they need to be an M.A. member – not so!

museumsassociation.org/find-a-job
15/ University of Leicester Museums Studies Jobs Desk (@LeicsMusStud) – a bit of a ‘sector secret’, this one has a good range of museums jobs listed, and is updated regularly.

www2.le.ac.uk/departments/mu…
16/ The Group for Education in Museums (@gem_heritage / @gem_jobs) – mainly listings that focus on learning roles in the heritage sector:

gem.org.uk/careers/job-se…
17/ If you’re particularly after roles in library contexts, @CILIPinfo's jobs board is a great place to start:

cilip.org.uk/page/JobsandCa…
18/ A quick detour into cinema - The Independent Cinema Office (@ICOtweets) have an excellent job listings aggregator:

independentcinemaoffice.org.uk/jobs
19/ A sequence of Scottish ones, next - Creative Scotland’s (@CreativeScots) opportunities hub – listing arts/heritage jobs across Scotland (the first one here that requires sign-in)

opportunities.creativescotland.com
20/ @goodmovesjobs – search site run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (@scvotweet). Lists roles right across the charities sector, but plenty of cultural ones here too.

goodmoves.org.uk
21/ Arts & Business Scotland (@aandbscotland) also have an excellent jobs board:

aandbscotland.org.uk/jobs
22/ A few for English regions, now; @Create_Jobs – apprenticeships, traineeships and other early career opportunities and work placements for young people in London, maintained by @A_New_Direction & supported by @Create_London

community.createjobslondon.org/opportunities
23/ Meanwhile, @artinliverpool’s listings cover not just that fine city, but the whole of the North West

artinliverpool.com/opportunities-2
24/ For built heritage and archaeology roles and related, @BAJRjobs is a very solid resource:

bajr.org/Employment
25/ The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (@IHBCtweet) listings are also great for historic built environment jobs:

ihbconline.co.uk/jobsetc
26/ meanwhile, if you’re looking for jobs in archives, many can be found on the Archives-NRA JISC list

jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadm…
27/ There’s probably ballast for a whole separate thread for natural heritage jobs (share links!), but @WildlifeTrusts is a great place to start:

wildlifetrusts.org/jobs
28/ @disabilityarts have a good listings sections for creatives who identify as disabled:

disabilityarts.online/jobs
29/ The Youth Music Network @YouthMusicNet brings together jobs in music education and community practice:

network.youthmusic.org.uk/jobs-opportuni…
30/ Another few that are more generic: @ArtsHub appears to be an Australian website, but carries UK listings:

artshub.co.uk/jobs
31/ Discover! Creative Careers (@CreativeCareer5) is @DCMS & @ace_national supported, and seems especially useful for entry-level opportunities:

discovercreative.careers
32/ @artsindustrymag has a listings page that currently seems dormant, but may be worth keeping an occasional eye on:

artsindustry.co.uk/jobs
33/ @MusicMarketJobs has quite an active jobs page, though generally more commercial:

artsandmedia.org/job-search
34/ Back to a website that carries listings beyond the creative/cultural - but if you’re interested in jobs in funding (in the arts and beyond), then Association of Charitable Foundations @ACFoundations are well worth visiting:

acf.org.uk/jobs
35/ Circling back to funders, public bodies etc - don’t forget to check the direct jobs listings for @ace_national @HeritageFundUK @BFI @HistoricEngland @EnglishHeritage @BritishCouncil @nationaltrust - all very large employers with many new culture-facing jobs every month.
36/ Recruitment agencies would be a whole separate thread, but - especially for more senior roles - these can be a great option. @saxtonbampfylde is a good example:

saxbam.com
37/ Finally for now (!) – the jobs search function on @LinkedIn continues to improve, seeming to offer jobs that are ever-more relevant to users’ skills and interests:

linkedin.com/jobs
38/ So, that’s the end of my thread for now - but please do RE-TWEET (!!), and also comment to share any other resources that I may have missed.

And, GOOD LUCK if you're searching, yourself!

1/ Putin's claim that Ukraine is run by 'Nazis' is absurd - Zelensky's government is patently liberal/democratic;

It's also deeply hypocritical, given Putin/United Russia's increasing ultranationalist bent, and Aleksandr Dugin's influence...

#bbcnews #newsnight
2/...But it would be good to see a proper analysis of the armed far-right in both countries;

Some minor reports note the paramilitary Azov Battalion & Right Sector in Ukraine, but almost none detail core far-right elements both of Donbas separatists & the Russian army #Newsnight
3/ I can't believe that no mainstream outlets have recently analysed Putin's ideological debt to Dugin, given the eerie alignment between the former's wild war rhetoric on Ukrainian 'illegitimacy' and the views of the latter.

1/Some really strong campaigns to protect the arts in England are getting covered - especially for the performance venues worst-hit by the pandemic.

To me, they'd be stronger still if foregrounding the voices of people and communities whose lives have been changed; #r4today
2/I hugely respect the theatre directors & musicians making the case; more compelling still for many might be

young offenders set on a better path

older people escaping loneliness

mothers overcoming post-natal depression

disabled people liberated from isolation

#r4today
3/this only scratches the surface,

These theatres/music venues are for many, many people/places the drivers of jobs & tourism;

Spaces where people find hope/aspiration/pathways for the future;

That bind communities, giving pride/shared identity

Let's hear those voices too
