First, there is no such title as "Rezang La Battle" in PLA's war history documents, bcoz the battle at pass of RezangLa is a part "Pangong lok Sweeping Operation" which PLA carried out in Pangong lok area in Nov 1962.+

"Pangong lok Sweeping Operation", refers to battle in PangongLok (Spanggur area) for purpose of destroying 🇮🇳 No.5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & No.16 strongholds, started on night of Nov 17, 1962.
What Indians call "Rezanla Battle" is actually the battle on No.8 & 9 strongholds at Rezanla pass+

The 🇮🇳 troops stationed at the RezangLa pass No.8 & No.9 strongholds are #IndianArmy Charlie Company of 13 Kumaon Battalion(abt 150 in total).
#PLA troops carrying out assault operations are 4 companies (abt 400 in total) of the 3rd Battalion, 11th Regiment, 4th Division.

"Enemy has been operating here for a long time, & their fortifications are tough."
"Kumaons are very smart, they have built some false fortifications to confuse our army. These false bunkers are tall & eye-catching, while the real ones are low & hidden."

"After battle, it was proved that these fake fortifications really deceived our army's approach reconnaissance to a great extent, which caused our artillery preparation to fail to achieve expected effect, and most of enemy fortifications survived the artillery preparation"

"Relying on terrain advantage, enemy fired blindly & indiscriminately with machineguns & mortars, but none hit."
"Shortly, heavy mortars & cannons of our rear artillery group, which had already set coordinates, began to attack the strongholds. Enemy's firepower was suppressed."

"9 a.m, our troops began to charge strongholds. 7th company rushed into vicinity of barbed wire, but blocked by IA machine gun fire. Each platoon adopted team tactics to mutual support, alternately launched a charge, pulled recoilless gun & rocket launcher to the front to shoot."

"Enemies encountered this time were quite tenacious,& no such phenomenon as the former enemies' quick collapse."
"Shaitan Singh, enemy commander, led 14 infantries to carry out mobile operations in order to prevent us from cutting off contact between No.8 9 strongholds."

"Infantry squad led by Major Singh had not gone far when they encountered the charge of Class 6, Company 9, 10th Reg."
"Enemy commander shouted rushed in front with a bayonet & was shot by Class 6 with 56-type rifles.
two Jawans tried to save him were also killed at sametime."

"12 enemies rushed into the battle formation of Class 6, then began a bayonets fighting."
"11 enemies were stabbed death & one was injured and captured."

"After 45 min of fierce fighting, 7th company took out 25 bunkers in front of the enemy stronghold. A total of 141 enemies were annihilated (136 killed and 5 captured), battle basically ended."
"Our army casualty is 119, 21 died & 98 wounded".

"The battle started at 7:30 am on Nov 18 & ended at 9:10 am, which lasted abt 1h 40m."
"In this battle, the casualty ratio between us & enemy reached 0.84 : 1, far higher than other battles in 1962 self-defence war."

"After destroyed strongholds No.8 & 9, we rummaged through ID card in the killed major company commander's pocket, only to know he was called 'Shaitan Singh'. We didn't care too much about his identity at that time, after all, he is only a major."

Pics used should all be from 1962 war, but they should not be from battle of Rezang la. I wonder if there were any photos left in that battle.

This Kumaon photo of the soldier may come from WWII, and I think it is cool. So I use it.
I really can't find a suitable photo of the Kumaon soldier in 1962 war.
