RCB IS WINNING!!🤯

No, we aren’t talking about #IPL2023 but RCB as a business.

With a net worth of Rs. 637 CR,

#RCB is the third richest IPL team- behind only KKR & Mumbai Indians

What's their secret?

1/8🧵
Recently RCB filled out Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium WITHOUT EVEN PLAYING A MATCH!

They just invited fans to just come & watch them practice.

But why are fans crazy about RCB when they haven't even won the title once?

2/8🧵
Now, usually, an IPL team has multiple revenue streams-

First, the prize money- but let’s not go there

Next, we've got sponsorships👇

3/8🧵
In 2023

RCB signed a record-breaking 75 CR three-year title sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways.

Other principal partners include Reliance Jio, KEI & Happilo which pitched in 100 CR+ in total.

Great but nothing extraordinary.

Now comes the merchandise👉

4/8🧵 Image
This where RCB really shines.

In 2017, RCB partnered with Status Quo to set up an online lifestyle brand.

From official jerseys to flip-flops, fans can now purchase it all.

And, they’ve got the perfect models- Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and #ViratKohli himself!

5/8🧵 Image
Plus, their social media game is insane– with BTS, podcasts & influencers collabs.

In fact, RCB is among world’s top 5 most popular sports clubs with #FCBarcelona, #ManchesterUnited, #RealMadrid & #PSG .

Their popularity even tempted Puma to partner with RCB.

6/8🧵
And, this craze also helps them sell tickets.

You see, BCCI allows teams to set ticket prices for their own matches. Plus, 80% of ticket revenue goes to the team owner.

So, RCB priced their tickets the HIGHEST among all other teams.

And yet, they’re filling stadiums!

7/8🧵
So, win or no win, things are in RCB’s favour.

By the way, #RCB has also partnered with Chola MS General Insurance.

A few days ago-

Influencer Revant Himatsingka took to the feeds to call out CADBURY BOURNVITA's high sugar content.

His deleted reel- which suggested changing the tagline from ‘Taiyaari jeet ki’ to ‘Taiyaari diabetes ki’- had 12 MILLION views.

Thread🧵 Image
Naturally, this got netizens concerned & Cadbury fuming.

The global chocolate brand issued a public statement refuting these claims.

But, that’s not all.

They also sent Revant a legal notice who in turn deleted his video AND issued an apology.

So all okay, right? Not really. Image
You see, Cadbury’s over-the-top reaction got people thinking–

“Why are they trying so hard?" 🤔
"What are they covering up?”

And, it got spectacularly viral– on WhatsApp groups, social media and every newspaper in the country!

So we did some digging👇

Dolo 650 sold whopping 350 Crore+ tablets in India during the pandemic!

Stack that lengthwise and it would be over 50000 times taller than Burj Khalifa.

But, Dolo wasn’t always our go-to paracetamol

(Hint: Crocin/Calpol)

So, what changed?🤔

Thread 🧵
Manufactured by Chennai-based Micro Labs,

Dolo 650 has been around since 1993.

Athough Crocin, Calpol and Dolo‒ all contain the same magical fever-fighting salt Paracetamol,

It’s the “650” that sets Dolo apart.🫰
In 1973,
Micro Labs identified a market opportunity‒

The strongest paracetamols in the market were up to 500 mg‒ fairly effective on normal fever.

But high fever?

Not-so-much.👎

So Micro Labs did their research & found that a 650 mg dosage was more effective.

5 Cognitive Biases Brands Use To Trick You 👀

Thread 🧵
1️⃣Scarcity Effect

🚨Only 2 seats left. Book now!

Ever seen this prompt?

This is the scarcity effect.

We tend to BELIEVE a product that’s low in supply or running out is invaluable💎.
📽️Movie theatres, ✈️travel booking and 🛍️shopping apps use this bias to create urgency and trick consumers into impulse buying.

Another bubble-bursting example?

👟Those high-end sneakers.

Deepak Chahar- the star bowler of Chennai Super Kings- made ₹14 crores WITHOUT even playing the IPL 🏏

How ⁉️

Thread🧵
Every year,

The BCCI- the body that governs the IPL- generously insures all their players’ contracts & even pays the premium.

This is to ensure that if a player is injured & unable to continue, they don’t walk away empty-handed👐
Last year,

They bought an insurance cover worth ₹5000 crores for IPL ‼️

That's the largest cover ever for an Indian sporting event.

This includes everything:

Revenue losses due to unforeseen events, weather issues, riots, and yes, loss of players due to injury or illness.

India's largest insurance giant-
Born out of British racism ⁉️

Here's the full untold story👉
In 1818,

The British established their first insurance company on India’s soil.

🚨The catch?

They catered only to the British & denied insuring Indian lives. Image
When Babu Mutty Lall Seal–

The ‘Rothschild of Calcutta’– stepped in and strong-armed the foreign companies,

They started covering Indians too.

But, prejudice knew no bounds–

Indians had to pay 20% extra premiums ‼️ Image
