You should have enough blood to QUICKLY and COMPLETELY fill the test window, ideally with a little to spare.
Some people choose to perform back-to-back tests to test the meter itself for consistency. If you are doing so, it is CRITICAL to perform both tests within a minute..
or two of each other and use SEPERATE puncture locations for each test."
We reached out to them for clarification on this.
Edge advises to avoid repeated samples from the same site. This is likely because repeated figure sticks at the same site or using lots of pressure to get a 2nd drop of blood can cause some localized trauma..
damaging cells/tissues such that the 2nd sample may not accurately reflect lactate levels in the blood anymore.

After publishing my paper I've had many #LongCovid & #MECFS patients reach out to me. Many started testing their lactate, and some have tried one/all parts of the treatment I tried on myself.
More recently patients started messaging me saying that their PEM or POTS is gone..
I can't begin to describe how it makes me feel that patients are actually starting to feel better 🙏
I've worked on this paper for a year, and to be frank, gave up a lot to be able to get it out. I knew it was of the utmost importance that we got this published and out ASAP.
What was published was only a summarized version of the 15+ page paper we initially wrote (hypotheses papers have a strict word limit). There's much more to share on the different components of this elaborate mechanism, and so there's more to come.
A lot of you have asked me about some specific aspects of the makeshift treatment I did based on the #LongCovid hypothesis paper I recently published.
A couple of answers:
What type of stretching 👇
I did full body stretching whenever I could/thought about it. And with full body, I actually mean full body. Even stretching my feet (covid toes!) and turning my ankles.
I also did Qigong and Tai Chi with the help of YouTube videos.
I actually went as far as to put up notes around the house with:
DRINK,
STRETCH,
BREATHE
POSTURE (for good blood flow)
So that I would constantly be reminded and stuck with it as much as possible.
This was not a recommendation for others to try the same thing, we need clinical testing to better understand what are the safest and most effective treatments for an acid-base imbalance.
The experimental treatment worked for me, but everyone is different and has different responses.
In addition, the treatment I outlined is not the only option, as the mechanism we describe in the paper gives a lot more options for treatments and therapeutics to test.
The different components: breathing exercises, gentle stretching (NOT exercise), a very specific diet, a lot of water & more.
This sounds WAY easier on paper than it was. At this point I couldn’t stand for longer than a couple minutes & I hadn’t been able to cook in some time.
As the body gets rid of excess acid through the urine, I figured that dramatically increasing my overall water intake would be a good idea.
I also added alkalizing electrolyte drops (bases) to every glass of water.
