Why does meditating not work most of the time?

One reason is the easy availability of enormous literature over thousands of years. Add to this the mysticism, DIY fads, fancy yogas, assembly-line style ashrams, the highs, and the instant results culture.

Our age is ruled by- business at the speed of thought, the world in your palm, and now research is at neural level which means big corp is targeting your sub-conscious.

This means Google will know what you want, much before the want floats in your surface mind. And this is not just through algorithms predicting your user patterns which is very old tech now.

In all this, where is your meditation ? What are you doing in name of meditation ? What is your validation metric to conclude if it works or not ?

If you leave out the complex, and keep it simple, I would say that it still works but you do not know.

Because, meditation is the destruction of the ‘person’, who hankers for the results of meditation. How could you rely on this ‘person’ to validate his own extinction ?

For those on their own, you need to be patient and persevering on your own. There is no other way out. No pampering!

Look at the ant-hills, the bird nests, the spider-webs, and the bee combs. We never see much of these little guys do these things in action but only the results when they are noteworthy.

You just ask where is the apple in the tree ? But there is so much happening in the silence of the soil. Your meditation is the same!
