'We need to do better' - over 14,000 people died with Covid after catching it in hospital last year. Patients continue to die from hospital acquired infections because the government took masks away and ended testing. Covid is an airborne virus and there mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/w…
Is ongoing denial of this from WHO. They have already announced once that it was airborne but then backtracked. The current guidelines are completely inadequate. Many staff are ending their careers due to long covid. It is on no one’s interests to stop masking.
The government should have also advised wearing an #N95. I don’t understand why the some of the medical profession are failing to support vulnerable patients. They are also endangering themselves. Why believe the Tories on #COVID being just a ‘mild’ cold.
Surely the fact that the world health organisation has said that ‘hundreds of millions will need long term care’ shouid have been a red flag. Do you see that with the flu or a cold? Flu doesn’t last 365 days of the year. When was the last time you ever remember catching a bad flu
Twice in a year. I can only remember ever having it once. There are studies showing long term health risks of blood clots, heart disease, lung damage, brain damage, autoimmune. Do you think the best way to deal with a disease is to be in denial? ‘It’s not going to happen to me’
I’m not the one who is going to get #Longcovid. That’s not going to protect you as it doesn’t for so many other conditions. If you think you might not have caught it remember that over 40% of infections are asymptotic. They also carry long term risks.
The government are telling everyone it’s ‘omicron’ as though it’s one virus. It’s not there are hundreds of strains. It’s a SARS virus.
*asymptomatic apologies for the typo
Clinically vulnerable patients are being told they are overly anxious. These same patients are the ones who are continuing to die. Hospitals can not claim there are no ongoing deaths from covid infections. This simply is not true and yet they are saying there is no risk. 😡
This is severely breaking patient trust and will have long term consequences.

Conversation with an acquaintance
A Why are you still on twitter talking about politics?
Me I’m talking about COVID risks.
A I’ve had it and it was mild.
Me There are still long term health risks and each time you catch it increases the risk of long covid.
A It’s rare
Me WHO have said ‘1 in 10 infections are leading to long covid’
A Well I’ve only had it once
Me Do you test regularly?
A No?
Me Do you know over 40% of infections are asymptomatic
A If there are no symptoms then it’s ok.
Me That’s not true, you are still at risk from blood clots, heart problems for 12 months or more after your infection
A I didn’t know that.
Me There are lots of studies showing the various risks.
A No thanks, I would rather not know

What protection do many of us have? Poor or no access to vaccines and antivirals in the UK. No lasting immunity Every infection carries risk. ‘Hundreds of
Millions needing long term care’ is an odd definition of safe! When are you going to announce Covid is airborne?

If the studies which show #COVID can cause brain damage was on the news, wouldn’t more people be asking for air filters in schools and protections? Why isn’t it on the news?

I wish more GPs and consultants would challenge the government on #COVID. We need more to realise that it’s not a mild infection and support patients getting #LongCovid and clinically vulnerable. If you did this the guidelines would have to change. There are so many studies.

Education should be about learning and inclusion. Not a polarised view that is ignoring the risks to many families. Would you fail to protect children with peanut allergies? Then why not for children with lung conditions etc? All children are at risk from #LongCovid and
health risks. COVID poses a big risk to children’s health.

Long Covid can impair quality of life more than advanced cancers. How is it schools are not mitigated when children are catching covid? Why are more parents not concerned? It’s not mild and ‘1 in 10 infections’ not people, leads to ‘long term care’. theguardian.com/society/2023/j…
There are many peer reviewed studies showing the risks. We don’t know what these infections will do longer term.
