Is meditation on the Self and Atma Vichara/Neti Neti higher in tantra?
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
Mind's Concentration is common to gyana & Yoga. Yoga aims at union of individual with universal, the Reality - which cannot be new, must exist now, and it does. Thus Path of Knowledge tries to find out how viyoga (separation) came about - separation is from Reality.
#meditation Image
Ravi marga is jnana( path of knowledge). Moon marga is Yoga. They think that after purifying the 72,000 nadis in the body, sushumna is entered and the mind( kundalini) passes up to the sahasrara and there is nectar trickling.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
These are all mental concepts. The man is already overwhelmed by world concepts. Other concepts are now added in the shape of this Yoga.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
The object of all these is to rid the man of concepts and to make him in here as the PURE SELF - i.e., absolute consciousness, bereft of thoughts! WHY NOT GO STRAIGHT TO IT? Why add new encumbrances to the already existing ones?
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
“Na aham” I am not this = out-breathing

“Koham” Who am I? = in-breathing

“Soham” I am He = Retention of breath
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism ImageImage
This is vichara( investigation). This vichara brings about the desired result. For one not so advanced as to engage in it, some meditation brings about suspension of breath and the mind ceases to be restless.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
Control of mind spontaneously effects control of breath; rather kevala kumbhaka (spontaneous retention of breath), without attention to inhalation or exhalation results.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
For one unable to do this also, regulation of breath is prescribed (yoga) for making the mind quiescent. Quiescence lasts only so long as the breath is controlled. So it is transient. The goal is clearly not pranayama.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
It goes on to pratyahara, dharana, dhyana & samadhi. These deal with control of mind. This becomes easier for one who had earlier practiced pranayama which leads him to higher stages involving mind control - which is the aim of yoga also.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
A more advanced man will naturally go direct to control of mind without wasting his time in practising control of breath. A simple development of pranayama alone may confer siddhis (psychic powers) which so many hanker for.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
The yogi may have his methods of breath control, tantriks have their mantras yantras etc Gyani’s method is only one of enquiry. When the mind is merged in Self, the shakti or kundalini, which is NOT APART FROM THE SELF, rises automatically.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
The yogis and tantriks attach the highest importance to sending the kundalini up to the sahasrara, the brain centre or the thousand petalled lotus.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
They point out the scriptural statement that the life current enters the body through the fontanelle and argue that, viyoga [separation] having come about that way, yoga [union] must also be effected in the reverse way.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
They say we must by yoga practice gather up pranas & enter the fontanelle for the consummation of yoga. The Gnanis on the other hand point out that the yogi and tantriks ASSUME THE EXISTENCE OF THE BODY and its separateness from the Self.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
Only if this standpoint of separateness is adopted can the yogi and tantriks advise effort for reunion by the practices prescribed.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
In fact the body is in the mind which has the brain for its seat. That the brain functions by light borrowed from another source is admitted by the yogis themselves in their fontanelle theory.
#meditation #SanatanaDharma #Hinduism Image
The Gyani further argues: if the light is borrowed it must come from its native source. GO TO THE SOURCE DIRECT and do not depend on borrowed resources.

Why is Bhagwan Vishnu called Hari?

Harihi Om.

For many reasons; mainly is because He takes away (performs harana of) pains & sorrow.

He (Naaraayana) is called ‘Hari’ as he destroys sorrow.

-Parama Samhita, Adhyaaya 2, Mantra 99
#SanatanaDharma #SanatanDharma #Sanatani Image
Also because He is the destroyer of the devatas, as per a Smrti shloka quoted by Svaami Vijayeendra Teertha Shripaadagalu, in Shaiva-Sarvasva Khandanam of Nyaayamauktikamaala.

ब्रह्माणमिंद्रं रुद्रं च यमं वरुणमेव च ॥ ८६ ॥

निगृह्य हरते यस्मात्तस्माद्धरिरहोच्यते ।

Being the destroyer who destroys Brahmaa, Indra, Rudra, Yama & Varuna, he is known as ‘Hari’.

-Padma Puraana Uttara Khanda, Adhyaaya 226, Shloka 86

What is Shukra Niti and what to do on a Friday?

Shukracharya: A great knowledgeable person who was respected even by Devas and Saints. He was an expert in Political Science. He founded the Shukra Niti. In his niti he has laid down the following points:
#SanatanaDharma #hinduism https://t.co/syF74bOq87twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

One should never reveal certain things in front of others.

It’s great if you are loved and respected by all, but don’t show it off in front of others- doing so will lower your respect in the eyes of others
#SanatanaDharma #hinduism https://t.co/2pRf0avyqJtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
If you have to face insult at any point in your life, it’s best to keep it to yourself; telling that to everyone you know will make you feel insulted in front of others as well.

Tantra is an abstract religion, it doesn't have a clear definition. Different seekers define it differently, many not even consistent with each other. Tantra, though, is clearly recognized as being very different from the ancient Hindu Vedic tradition.
#SanatanaDharma #Hinduism twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
Before trying to delve into tantrism, it is important to understand that this is not a single coherent system. It is rather a tradition that gradually evolved from an accumulation of practices and rituals, in order to attain the grace of the divine.
#SanatanaDharma #Hinduism twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
The practitioner of tantra uses his own prana or divine energy in order to harness it to the universal prana, thereby attaining his goal. The goal in question could be either spiritual, material or both.

Tantra in Hinduism could be considered to be parallel to the Hindu Vedic tradition. Tantra contains written records of the Agama, which comes in four main parts, as follows:
#SanatanaDharma #Hinduism twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
Jnana or metaphysical knowledge
Yoga or meditative practices
Kriya or ritual practices
Charya or ethical and religious principles of conduct
#SanatanaDharma #Hinduism ImageImage
Most of the staunch Hindu Vedic practitioners, however, consider the Tantras to be anti-Vedic in character and hence, altogether shun both the cult and the practitioners of the same.

Granthi is a Sanskrit term meaning "doubt" or "knot;" more specifically, it denotes "a difficult knot to untie."
#kundalini #yoga twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
The term is found in yogic literature and refers to knotted areas of energy, which can block the flow of prana in the body.

Correspondence between Macrocosm and Microcosm
#spirituality #Cosmos twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
The universe consists of a Mahabrahmanda, or grand Cosmos, and of numerous Brihatbrahmanda, or macrocosms evolved from it. As is said by the Nirvana Tantra, all which is in the first is in the second.
#spirituality #Cosmos twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
In the latter are heavenly bodies and beings, which are microcosms reflecting on a minor scale the greater worlds which evolve them. "As above, so below." This mystical maxim of the West is stated in the Vishvasara Tantra as follows:
