🛢 LGBTQ+ supporters of Just Stop Oil met with the organisers of Pride in London, demanding they make a statement condemning new oil and gas licences.

🦺 Pride in London have failed to do this, so we have taken action.
💀 Who do you think will be the first to suffer the consequences of societal collapse? It will be marginalised communities, such as the LGBTQ+ community.

⛓️ Pride have a responsibility to take action to protect their community, and they are failing.
🏳️‍🌈 Pride is a protest. But Pride in London allows destructive industries such as Coca-Cola, who are the world's biggest plastic polluter and who have been accused of numerous human rights abuses, to co-opt it and pinkwash themselves.
🛢 The LGBTQ+ supporters of Just Stop Oil have taken action against Pride in London today, because the organisation is working with industries complicit in worsening the climate crisis.

👉 Pride in London has failed to address and take responsibility for these relationships.
🛢 New oil and gas is a death sentence for millions of people, and the LGBTQ+ community will be one of the first to suffer.

🚨 BREAKING: 55 PEOPLE MARCH DOWN ROAD, IMMEDIATELY SLAPPED WITH SECTION 12 NOTICE

🦺 At 10:00am, 55 Just Stop Oil supporters began marching from the Shell Centre to Parliament Sq. 15 minutes later, a Section 12 public order notice was issued, ordering protesters off the road.
⚖️ These supporters are marching in accordance with fundamental human rights that are protected under international law. Last week, the Government laid before Parliament the third piece of legislation in two years which aims to restrict protest.
🏛️ The public order regulations will reintroduce amendments that were voted out of the Public Order Act by the House of Lords. This will redefine ‘serious disruption’ to mean anything that is ‘more than minor hindrance’ to daily activities.

It's owned by a billionaire called Jonathan Harmsworth, aka Lord Rothermere, whose great-grandfather founded it and was pals with Adolf Hitler and other fascists. Image
He is a 'non-domicile' – meaning he avoids paying his fair share of tax in the UK. And his paper has a long track record of spreading lies and misinformation on the climate crisis.
