Ok just for fun here a list of urban planning topics I'd like to see mentioned in SFF more often
Mass transit and walkabilty
Sewage and trash collection (I love Slow River by Nicola Griffith in part because it deals with sewage and bio remendation)
Urban trees and wildlife-- ok maybe I like trees too much
Local governance and citizen outreach I'd love to see more fictional models of good local government not just endless paperwork
Food systems -- where do people get their food and how is that food produced
The impact of layers of history on place, how once something is done its hard to undo and all that shapes a place
Affordable housing
Streetlife and public gathering spaces
Accessibility -- don't describe you city scape as full of stairs or narrow alley with out thinking about what this excludes, remember everyone will be pushing something with wheels at some point
Water -- where does it come form an where does it go? Aqueducts don't start at the edge of the city. This one is tied to foodsystems
