The moose anchorman is Peter Moosebridge, played by CBC news anchor Peter Mansbridge. For the regional releases, local animals and personalities for used instead, such as a Koala played by Australian entertainer David Campbell.
In Japan he was a raccoon dog played by comedian Koura Kazumasa, in China a panda played by Peter Mansbridge, and in Brazil, a Jaguar played by journalist Ricardo Boechat.
Disney was originally going to use a corgi for the British release, but ended up keeping the moose, now named Moosos Alexander, and played by BBC sports reporter Vassos Alexander. The home video release, however, just has the original version with Mansbridge.
Has Mr. Otterton been wearing the same pair of pants for the past two weeks?
Gideon Grey is played by writer Phil Johnston. In addition to writing here, he also wrote Wreck-It Ralph and Wreck-It Ralph 2, which he'll also be co-directing.
Also, Gideon's license plate references 113, the CalArts room where so many Disney alums learned to animate.
Judy's license plate, meanwhile, is JER2911, a reference to Jeremiah 19:11: "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
There were significant rewrites to the story at the end, which originally had Nick running a theme park for predators. Because of the late changes, a lot of character models were recycled. This warehouse was originally where the park was hidden.
Ginnifer Goodwin was actually crying when she recorded her apology to Nick.
We do need to talk about this, though, because Judy is emotionally blackmailing Nick to forgiving her, and that's not okay. Yes, it's an emotional scene, but her crying is actually pretty passive-aggressive.
She caused Nick harm; she has no right now to be upset.

Which is not to say that she can't be upset, only that if she can't calmly apologize, she needs to wait until she can, because she's putting Nick in a terrible position.
And the disc is skipping again, which is making it hard to show the bootleg videos. Notice Meowana and Giraffic, though, another nod to future productions (though Gigantic got cancelled).

Also, super sad I can't show you guys Wrangled.
Duke corrects Judy's pronunciation of Weaselton, a direct reference to his character's name in Frozen.
"They offered me what I couldn't refuse! Money!" Another Godfather reference.
Weaselton sold the night howlers to Doug? Where have we heard that name before?
It's Doug! Doug is played by director Rich Moore!

Also, notice the vertical eyes. All of the sheep in the movie have realistic vertical eyes except for Bellwether.
His compatriots are Woolter and Jesse. Combined with his evil science lab, the three of them are a Breaking Bad reference.
The sound when the train doesn't turn on is the same as when the Millenium Falcon fails to go into Hyperspace. A lot of the shots are similar to those in Star Wars: A New Hope, as well.
According to Rich Moore, incidentally, Judy returns to apologize to Nick about 2 to 3 months after quitting.
We are getting close to the end of the film, and I'm just about out of trivia. I will point out that there's only mammals (and some flies) in this movie, no reptiles, birds, or fish.
There're also no flying or marine mammals, because it would've been hard to integrate those into the world of Zootopia.
There are also no primates, because they would be too human like.
There is, however, a fish market! Which is, presumably, what predators eat in the movie world.
So, in the beginning of the film, Judy stands up for a sheep against a fox. In the climax, she stands up for a fox against a sheep. CIRCLES WITHIN CIRCLES!
The news caster states Bellwether's full name. We never get Judy's full name (but it is Judith Laverne Hopps).
One of the undercover officers is a wolf, wearing a sheep costume.

Literally a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Alright, that's pretty much it! Still one of my favorite movies, though the skipping (which did not clear up) was somewhat annoying.
But how did everyone else like it? Well... pretty great, actually. It's the second Disney movie, after Frozen, to earn more than $1 billion. It got about $341 million in North America and about $683 million overseas.
It was the fourth highest grossing film of 2016, and second highest animated film of 2016, after Civil War, Rogue One, and Finding Dory.
It was the biggest opening for a Disney or Pixar film in Belgium, and the biggest for a non-Pixar Disney film in China, where it was known as 疯狂动物城 (Crazy Animal City).
On Rotten Tomatoes, Zootopia is currently tied for second-highest rated with Snow White and One Hundred and One Dalmatians, at 98%. First place is tied between Pinocchio and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at 100%.
Critics praised the story, which they thought was funny, clever, entertaining, and had an excellent message about trust and tolerance in the face of politically-harnessed hatred and prejudice.
Which is not to say that the film doesn't have some missteps. We talked about Judy's apology, and many people took issue with the fact that this is a movie functionally about racism, but the two leads are both played by white actors.
Not to mention some serious issues with the framing of the story as prey versus predator.
And these are all really valid criticisms of the movie. It's important we examine films, even ones we love (and I really, really love this one) and do better in the future.
Speaking of the future, both Byron Howard and Rich Moore have said that a sequel or a series is definitely possible. Mark 'Rhino' Smith said that he was going to reprise the role of Officer McHorn in a sequel, and Ginnifer Goodwin said she was interested.
The film did win several awards, including a Golden Globe, Critics' Choice, and Annie, as well as an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The Academy Award is a big deal. Byron had been nominated for Bolt and Moore for Wreck-It Ralph, but both lost.
Bolt to WALL-E and Wreck-It Ralph to Brave.
Anyway, that's Zootopia. Is it a perfect movie? No. But it's definitely one of my top ten (except for the skipping). Probably top five.
That's fifty-four of the Disney Canon done. Next time we'll go through the latest and last, until next year when Wreck-It Ralph comes out, Moana!
