For the past several months, I’ve been deeply concerned about Israel’s war in Gaza, thinking about what I can say or do, as an American, as a Jew, as a former Congressman. But one thing is crystal clear: the war must end. I was deeply involved in the US solidarity movement against apartheid in South Africa. Forty years ago this month, I helped confront the trustees of Williams College and launch a hunger strike to demand divestment.

It’s clear what the @DNC needs to do here, and I don’t understand why it’s controversial. 🧵 thenation.com/article/politi… Allowing Republicans or other outsiders to use dark money to determine the outcome of Democratic primaries is a sure way to destroy the Democratic Party. And that is true for any party.

Today, my uncle, @SenCarlLevin passed away. Wherever I went in Michigan, from Copper Harbor to Monroe, I would run into people who would say, "I don’t always agree with Senator Levin, but I support him anyway because he is so genuine, he tells it straight and he follows through." Carl Levin personified integrity and the notion of putting the public good above self-interest.

We have just reached the grim milestone of 200,000 precious lives lost to this pandemic. This week also marks the beginning of early voting in MI. While Trump is not responsible for COVID-19, he is responsible for the worst failure of executive leadership in modern history. Starting on 9/24, MI has our opportunity to decide the fate of a president who admitted to knowing how deadly this virus was and willfully choosing to downplay it, at the expense of the lives of 200,000 fellow Americans, and the livelihoods of nearly 14 million more.

The loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg has left so many of us without words. Justice Ginsburg was a pioneer in the women’s rights movement. Her landmark opinions advanced the rights of women, immigrants, and disabled people and moved our imperfect nation closer to achieving equality. As the second woman appointed to the Supreme Court, she was a trailblazer who changed the face of our nation’s highest legal body. She was one of the most brilliant legal minds our country has ever seen.

What a slap in the face to the nearly 7,000 Michigan families who have lost a loved one to COVID-19 for Trump to break the law, gather a large group with no social distancing, and scream at our Governor to "Open up your state." Compare this with @JoeBiden’s visit: he’s not just demonstrating leadership in his words, but with his actions and adherence to health guidelines, modeling what a safe event should look like during a pandemic that has infected over 6 million Americans.

I’m over the moon that @JoeBiden chose @UAW Region 1 in Warren, MI to deliver his Buy American remarks today. #1u Wow! What a backdrop. Look at all those incredible vehicles we make right here in Michigan.

I would love to welcome @JoeBiden to the electric vehicle club! I have a white Bolt just like the on on stage, made by @UAW workers in Oakland County.

After the most unusual Labor Day of our lifetime, with gatherings canceled in a mishandled global pandemic and the fundamental direction of workers’ rights on the ballot in eight weeks, @JoeBiden has announced he is heading to Warren, ground zero for the American working class. Biden helped save the auto industry and tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs during the Great Recession. As we face both health and economic crises from the fallout of COVID-19, Biden’s Build Back Better plan will create thousands of family-supporting, union jobs.

We need more men speaking up about how toxic masculinity from the @GOP is shaping this crisis. @AOC pointed out a proven statistic that economic distress leads to a rise in crime. She was called a "f*cking b*tch" by a colleague in her workplace for it. washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/styl… This is unacceptable. Just like Rep. Yoho saying he has a wife and daughter as an "apology" is unacceptable.

Just like Trump not wearing a mask because he's afraid he'll appear weak is unacceptable.

Pence is coming to my district today. Trump was here just a few months ago, too, because they know that they cannot secure four more years or keep the Senate without Michigan, and they can’t win Michigan without Macomb. But what they don’t know is Macomb County. I marched in Sterling Heights and Clinton Township alongside student organizers, community leaders, pastors, and thousands of my constituents a couple of weeks ago in what may have been the largest racial justice demonstration in Macomb’s history.

On #MothersDay, I think of my mom, Vicki Levin, who is with me every day even 12 years after her passing, and who gave me whatever tools I have to cope with the chaos and fear of a global pandemic. Her unconditional love is the ground of security on which I stand. (1/4) Image I think of my mother-in-law Molly Freeman, who is sheltering with my sisters-in-law who are caretaking in that new way, even as they look after their own families and students. At 88, she remains a fount of humor and wisdom about the ways of the world. #MothersDay (2/4)

As we prepare for #Passover tonight, surely it feels unique in our experience. This holiday is a classic example of families and friends gathering together, literally being close. Now, we have to stay apart. #StayHome (1/6) Image My own family will be no different, with a zoom seder among grandparents, siblings, nephews and nieces, isolating ourselves all over the place. (2/6)

Hello! This is Nicole Bedi, with a brief takeover of Andy's account. I'm the new field director for Andy Levin for Congress. WAIT, is that still happening?! Of course it is! (1/6) Image We’re all adjusting to this new normal, and no one knows how long it will last. In my house, we're adjusting to close quarters, homeschooling, video conferencing. There are no more political rallies or club meetings. Our campaign office sits empty. (2/6)

The #coronavirus situation is developing and changing rapidly. We can all do our part to prevent the spread of the virus by being prepared and staying informed. I wanted to let you know what precautions my team and I are taking now to do our part. First, our campaign is suspending all in-person events. My district and DC Congressional offices will continue to provide the high-quality services we always do—helping constituents with issues related to the federal government, answering questions about legislation, and more.

Exciting @ewarren Town Hall in Arlington! We know 98% of the delegates are still up for grabs, and it’s great to hear from her tonight as we head towards Nevada, South Carolina, Super Tuesday, and Michigan! #LFG “Good news: I have the biggest anti-corruption plan since Watergate.
Bad news: We need it!”

@ewarren’s message on corruption cuts through every problem we face.

What a precious opportunity to tell undecided Iowa voters that if they’re worried about defeating @realDonaldTrump on Nov. 3, they should caucus for @ewarren who can... Image ▪️drive turnout from Iowa to Michigan with her big, bold ideas. I’ve seen it in the college students from every direction who have come to work for @IAforWarren to engage caucus-goers, and high schoolers too young to vote out knocking thousands of doors. Image

Every day representing #MI09 and much of the Clinton River Watershed, I am fighting to protect our water—our rivers and sewers leading into Lake St. Clair and coming out of our taps. That’s why I led water conversations in New Hampshire on why I support @ewarren for president. Image As President, @ewarren will work to reinstitute the Clean Water Rule to protect our lakes, rivers, and streams, and the drinking water they provide.

Enough of mourning friends and playing catch-up when thousands are needlessly infected and endangered, at great cost to society. On this World AIDS Day, let us pledge to take a brave, open and truly global approach to eradicating this disease. 28 years ago, I lost my dear friend Greg Witcher to HIV/AIDS. That was before we had the drug cocktails that keep people alive and well. Greg wasted away before my eyes. He wasn’t 35 years old.

I am crestfallen that the Republicans in Congress will now clearly put Brett Kavanaugh on the highest court in the land. No matter his extreme views about presidential power, workers’ rights and women’s control over their own bodies. No matter brave women coming forward with serious allegations so hastily brushed aside. No matter his extremely aggressive, partisan, and almost certainly mendacious performance under oath before the Judiciary Committee.

I believe and support survivors, not as a husband or a father of a daughter, but as a person recognizing the humanity of these women and bravery it takes for them to come forward.

Sexual assault is not a partisan issue. (1/5) The notion that any party would try to rush a confirmation vote for a lifetime position of all things—when one, two, three, and perhaps four women are willing to testify that the nominee assaulted them or otherwise engaged in grossly inappropriate conduct, boggles the mind.
