[Thread] Best Wordle starting word isn't just about getting hits on that word: it's about narrowing down possibles for future plays.
Having got a computer to play 3729 start words each against 3729 target words I can say that TRAPS has a great fast win rate & low fail game rate.
[2] That was playing hard-mode rules, with an optimal statistical play that maintains a list of remaining possible words & plays the word most likely to get letter hits. Even with this strategy it loses quite often.

The 3rd in my treelogy of talks entirely based on pun titles - the most egregious one of all.
Here is the sing-along version of "grading and abetting - does timber strength grading help or hinder the circular economy" at the #TIMBER2019 conference of @wood_technology of @iom3 [1]
The previous talk "From forest to last" (#EvolvingTheForest) was a more general look at the future role of #wood the #bioeconomy & #CircularEconomy - which covered, among other things, the huge potential, but also the gap between renewable & unlimited [2]
No sing-along (as such) for today's presentation at #EvolvingTheForest on #wood the #bioeconomy & #CircularEconomy - partly because what matters most is the discussion afterwards. Thanks to @TilhillForestry for the invitation.
However, bonus content... (1/6) #forests100
...the gist of the start is similar to this...let's not get too hung up on words
"Would you know a tree if you saw one?"

I’m Dan Ridley-Ellis from the Centre for Wood Science & Technology. We research the properties of wood, what properties are needed for the different things we can make from wood, & how those properties are influenced by the way trees grow. (2/15) blogs.napier.ac.uk/cwst/

Sing-a-long version of my presentation tonight at Scottish Timber: Green Drinks @ScotEcoDesign + @AECBnet + ASHS seda.uk.net/events/green-d…
No spoilers
We need to grade timber because it is variable - indeed there is a lot of variation within a single tree. This is not unique to timber though. We never have perfect knowledge of any engineering materials - even the man-made ones.

Trees contain a lot of potentially useful extractives - chemicals with useful functions that might be taken out before the fibre goes to another market. Some listed in our database thanks to @IBioIC blogs.napier.ac.uk/cwst/ited/
