(1/4) Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; (2/4) Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

(1/x) On this my last day @DHSgov, I have a remaining policy thought to offer. Looking back to the beginning of Covid, I would respectfully suggest that there was a better way to make overarching decisions about where we were in the virus progression. (2/x) It is easy to understand why we would rely so completely on the advice of traditional public health experts, but Covid was a new bug, particularly due to the asymptomatic spread. Traditional public health wanted certainty and data to make decisions,...

#fakenews “fact checkers” with an agenda. Try to guess what it is as your read along...

On July 15, @realDonaldTrump said: “In the last three years, @ICEgov has deported over 16,000 gang members and arrested over 2,000 members of MS-13.... Think of those numbers: 16,000 and arrested over 2,000 members of MS-13. We’ve also deported a lot of the MS-13s out of our country.”

Then, on July 20 CNN’s so-called “fact checker” challenged public servants at @ICEgov to prove the statement from @realDonaldTrump about gangs...

(1/x) A funny way to talk about an agreed-upon partnership, but kissing up to the violent part of her base I guess... A couple of things: 1) #FPS has been protecting the Hatfield Ct.house since it was built in 1997; 2) Portland has had daily violence... (2/x) ...every single day since May 29th, and that had nothing to do with federal officers; 3) In May and June, there were a grand total of only 3 days when federal facilities were targeted for that violence, but in July it kicked up to every single day;...

(1/x) I am disappointed in this uninformed tweet by a Senator who I respect. The truisms mixed with errors are rife. How many ways is this wrong? Let me count the ways: (1) It overlooks the fact that local law enforcement in Portland is not “handling these situations”, ... (2/x) ... “these situations” include attacks on federal law enforcement OFFICERS (not troops) and federal facilities; (2) it overlooks @DHSgov’s statutory responsibility to protect the federal facilities and personnel under violent attack; (3) did I mention there are no “troops”?

(1/x) Late yesterday, DHS learned that an employee at the @USCIS Seattle Field Office started exhibiting flu-like symptoms four days after visiting the nursing home in Kirkland, Washington that has seen numerous COVID-19 cases. (2/x) The employee had been coming to work in the intervening days between the possible exposure (Feb. 22) and becoming ill (Feb. 26). In an effort to contain the
threat of potential spread & out of an abundance of caution, the @USCIS Seattle Field Office was ordered closed...

(1/x) This thread is going to address #TPS (temporary protected status). Not sure it rises to the level of #FakeNews, but lots of reporters clearly do not understand a basic fact about #TPS – namely, that it is for people who are already in the United States... #TPS is NOT for people who want to come to the United States. Reporters keep asking why we won’t use #TPS to let Bahamians in who were affected by #Dorian. The most basic answer is #TPS isn’t used to let people in…
