Now we move on to sexual harassment that happens outside of workplace. We have laws under the Indian Penal Code that that define offences relating to sexual harassment and detail out the quantum of punishment for the same. Here's a link for your reference: iitk.ac.in/wc/data/IPC_18…
Sections 354, 354A, 354B, 354C and 354D deal with criminal assualt with an intent of outraging modesty, SH, voyeurism and stalking. Any of these acts committed against a woman are liable for penal action against the perpetrator and can result in fine as well as imprisonment.

@HavaldarShinde Let us start with thanking Bhanwari Devi because of whom we have the now landmark judgment which gave us the Vishaka guidelines for prevention of sexual harassment at workplace. The judgment was a first in Indian law for acknowledging and addressing workplace sexual harassment.

#Thread#JNU#MeToo: ICC just made sure no woman will ever find the courage to report a sexual violation to them. They said the complaint "was frivolous" and hence not proven conclusively. Malicious intent has not been proven. And the mere inability to prove the case doe NOT merit punishment as harsh as being recommended by JNU ICC.
