UCP incompetence and secrecy continues to harm Albertans.

Here’s another example, this time food banks and $5 million dollars are involved.

In November, UCP announced the first round of food bank grants worth $5 million.

Alberta food banks are completely overwhelmed. 🧵 Two biggest food banks are in #YEG and #YYC but there are over 100 in Alberta.

Some tiny, some massive.

The Edm Food Bank distributes food to over 320 agencies & distributes 35,000 hampers per month.

Their hamper program served more than 415,660 people in 2022. 🧵

The UCP talks a big game about attracting investment to Alberta.

The country’s largest hydrocarbon processing region, Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, is just northeast of Edmonton, and encompasses portions of Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont, Strathcona and Sturgeon Counties.

Assoc. Min. of Natural Gas, MLA Dale Nally’s home constit of Morinville-St. Albert includes a portion of this key economic region.

What MLA Nally doesn’t seem to understand is part of attracting investment is attracting a workforce. And keeping them healthy enough to work.

Thread.
This Christmas, Kenney’s austerity driven policy changes will cause disabled Albertans to struggle even more.

UCP changed AISH payment dates to make their books look better. People were harmed.

#Christmas #ableg Living on AISH means poverty. Forcing people to stretch already stressed budgets is cruel and harmful, particularly at Christmas.

This year, disabled Albertans will not receive their deposits until after Christmas.
