Can the Conscience of Ethiopia Be Silenced?

We, the people of #Ethiopia, along with other people of faith and conscience, cannot be silent. When freedom of religion and conscience are under attack, the soul of our beloved nation is at risk.

#EOTCunderAttackInEthiopia Can the conscience of Ethiopia be silenced?  It is up to all of us to preserve these freedoms. In fact, challenging the conscience of the people will easily backfire; instead, inciting its members to a deeper commitment to its faith and purposes. How will we respond?

We call for immediate release of Tamerat Negera Feyisa.

Who is Tamerat Negera Feyisa? Mr. Tamerat Negera is an Ethiopian journalist, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Terara Network was arrested from his home in Addis Ababa, on December 10, 2021 and his whereabouts were not disclosed to his family and the public for seven days until he appeared at court on December 16. He was transferred from Addis Ababa Police to Gelan City Police Department in the Oromia Regional State.

Many #Ethiopians are shocked, confused and disappointed by the sudden release of the TPLF leaders including Sebhat Nega, the father’s of TPLF on Ethiopian’s Christmas night without any explanation of why. #Ethiopian people need some answers to this. If their crimes were so bad they were in prison for so long, how can they all be released so quickly, in a single night, without even examining their individual cases? If they were innocent of crimes, why were they being held in the first place?

Today, January 7, an estimated of 260 million Orthodox Christians around the world will celebrate Christmas Day in the Julian calendar. On this day millions of #Ethiopians at home and away from home and those of us from #Ethiopia will celebrate ገና በዓል (Gena) or Christmas.

Ethiopia history is filled with traitors and ethnocentric individuals threatens to compromise #Ethiopia national strength or sovereignty – and even threatens the existence of the country. One need look no further than the recent secret zoom meeting organized by Ephrem Isaac for evidence of how entrenched this form of betraying their country and surrender to a hostile foreign power.

Ethiopiawinet or genuine patriotism is still alive in the hearts, minds and souls of millions #Ethiopians as you can see here in the #NoMore rally throughout the world. This is our time to organize and mobilize our people to reclaim our
ኢትዮጵያዊነት Ethiopiawinet,our humanity and our country from Ethno-nationalists, neocolonialists, ethnic federalism Or institutionalized tribalism and imperialism.

I would to send my deepest condolences to the family of Ato Bafekadu Damesse Bazabgh, the driver of the Irish aid agency, GOA Ethiopia, who was savagely killed last Friday, 23Kilometers from the town of Nedjo in the West Wallaga Zone of the Oromia region. He left behind a wife and three children; two girls and one boy.His family said he was a selfless and giving person. All he wants was to earn money to support his three children's education. He left behind children who will never know what it’s like to grow up with their father.

Looking at the pictures of Abay Woldu and other TPLF senior members reminded me of the open letter I sent them 7 years ago and I never get a response from them. Below is the title of the letter and the link to the letter:

“An Open Letter to the Chairman of the TPLF and Members of the TPLF Central Committee:

Remembering the Anuak Genocide. December 13, 2020 marks the 17th years anniversary of the Anuak genocide that began with the brutal massacre of 424 Anuak leaders and young students in less than three days, but continued for another two years. On December 13, 2003, members of the TPLF/EPRDF military from the ENDF’s 43rd Division entered Gambella town and killed 424 Anuak.

The best opportunity for justice, freedom, peace, sustainable and meaningful success in #Ethiopia must be based on inclusive, principle-based change that protects and upholds the rights and interests of all Ethiopians Much will be required from all of us #Ethiopians if we are to see justice, freedom, genuine reconciliation and healing become the pillars of a revived Ethiopian society.

Hope alone, without responsible action on the part of all our people, will not lead us to a better Ethiopia.

More than 11 years ago I wrote a Open Letter to my fellow Tigrayan brothers and sisters who were supporting the TPLF and no one took my advice serious. What I have now learned is that most of the people, especially those who are benefiting from the regimes of the day always tend not to listen to the advice and learned from the history until it is too late. My advice to everyone is “Be willing to take advice”

In the past 30 years, the people of Gambella have been largely denied or otherwise illegally excluded from the utilization of these resources in their own region.

Ethnic federalism, “One tribe or one ethnic group rule all” system of government doesn’t work in the 21st century. #Ethiopian politicians and intellectuals must take former US President Barack Obama warned ⚠️ to the Kenyans VERY seriously. President Barack Obama said "A politics that's based on only tribe and ethnicity is doomed to tear a country apart. It is a failure - a failure of imagination,"

The response of the public to the humanitarian crisis in #Gedeo Zone, Southern #Ethiopia over the last 24 hours has exceeded what has been done since it all began last year, 2018. If you look at it honestly, the crisis they face today is the result of the failure to see the humanity of each other and to not respond with love and kindness to this human tragedy. It has only deepened as it has been ignored.
