It all started in 2003 when Nisha Sharma accused her groom, Munish Dalal, of demanding #dowry. The case received significant media attention in India and globally, making her a hero overnight.

#Alimony does not depend on who files for divorce but on factors like income levels and the need for #maintenance.

The conduct of the parties plays a crucial role in deciding alimony amounts under provisions like Section 25 of the HMA and the corresponding SMA.

If the divorce favors the husband, citing the wife as the erring party, alimony may be lower than if the roles are reversed.

#Divorce related laws were not codified for most religions till not a long time ago.
