@TheSteveTheCat Hmm, okay, doesn’t answer my question, so I will just come up with my own version. 😅

In general, German government is mandated to make voting as easy as possible for citizens.
Plus, there’s basically no way you could be purged from a voter roll.

@TheSteveTheCat Biggest difference to the US, though, is that you do not have to register to vote. You get automatically registered as a voter the day you turn 18.

How does that work? B/c of another big difference to the US.: Germans are obligated to register their primary living address.

Thread.

@HoarseWisperer This new gif gave me comfort and made me smile:

Meet Germany’s Dr Fauci —

Prof. Chritian Drosten.

The world’s leading expert on emerging new viruses who invented the testing on SARS in 2003 (even beat the CDC to it), leading adviser to Chancellor Merkel on coronavirus.

@HoarseWisperer

The gif shows him in one of this week’s near daily pressers in Berlin.

It conveys all he stands for that propelled him to near stardom those last weeks.

Calmness, compassion, a hopeful look on life, humor, yet seriousness, focus... and much more.

@of4NByThePeople @HoarseWisperer @samstein @brooklynmarie Sweetheart, I come from a country that lives this system today and has done so for decades. And very well so.

Same as with most western civilized countries where it works as well.

Just because you in the US cannot imagine it, doesn’t mean it’s not possible. @of4NByThePeople @HoarseWisperer @samstein @brooklynmarie In civilized countries, costs exist the same as in the US, but they are irrelevant when deciding whether or not to treat someone. Those decisions are not made on the basis of financial considerations, but purely from a medical POV.
