1/5 Once again, after the but-it's-an-island canard, #NewZealand is getting the glib end of the stick in #COVID analysis, this time from the Washington Post: washingtonpost.com/world/2022/02/… Kiwis didn't "evade outbreaks"—they beat them back—& they don't now have "high case numbers" (!) in the latest wave. Ysdy=142 new cases in the WHOLEASS COUNTRY OF 5M. Yes, that's a jump from last month's 20-40/day, & yes, we're expecting the big #omicron numbers any day. But— 2/5

1/x I'm living in #Aoteoroa New Zealand, but am a native of the sports-addled USA city of #Boston. I am not as fanatical for the home teams as most of my bruthiznsistiz in that place, but I do enjoy live, in-person stadium sports events very much indeed. 2/x #NZ is one of the only places on the face of the Earth right now where you can attend live, in-person stadium sports events. Specifically, rugby. Specifically, the national team—the world-famous @AllBlacks.
