This is Christian Nationalism.

And as our president @rachelklaser has been explaining in interviews, it's not the first time we've seen this kind of Christian Nationalist overreach from Alabama's Chief Justice Tom Parker. He's done this before.

Follow along🧵👇 Parker was Roy Moore's right hand man.
Yup, that Roy Moore. The 10 Commandments judge. The guy who was twice removed from the bench for refusing to follow the law.
(Did you know AU brought the case that got the monument—and therefore also Moore—removed?)

Abortion bans impose one narrow religious doctrine on us all. They are unconstitutional and violate the separation of church and state. The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Tom Parker made this abundantly clear in a written opinion.

Parker declared, in a case which held that frozen embryos are children, that state law imposes a “theologically based view of the sanctity of life” and that “it is as if the People of Alabama took what was spoken of the prophet Jeremiah and applied it to” every Alabaman.

Attorney General Bailey lied about clergy, abortion, and Satan. The clergy are setting the record straight.

Roughly 120 mil folks will watch the Super Bowl tomorrow—many just for the commercials. One ad– the $20 mil “He Gets Us” campaign about Jesus – is funded by a major donor to some of the biggest Shadow Network orgs undermining church-state separation.
levernews.com/heres-who-will… The Servant Foundation, aka The Signatry, is behind the ad blitz. Over the next 3 years, they plans to spend “about a billion dollars” toward this campaign.

Oral arguments are winding down. Just the rebuttal left and it’ll be short. I have to head over to the court for the press conference, but a few final thoughts. There was no reason for #SCOTUS to hear this argument. The fairest and simplest thing for SCOTUS is to DIG the case. Dismiss as Improvidently Granted. “We never should have taken this case,” basically.

Hello, beautiful world! @AndrewLSeidel here, and I’m taking over AU’s Twitter feed this morning. Why? Because #SCOTUS is hearing oral argument in Kennedy v. Bremerton School District–a case that threatens the religious freedom of every public school student in the country. There’s a lot going on in the case: Football, public schools, prayer, religious freedom, disinformation, and a billion-dollar shadow network bent on co-opting the machinery of the state. Here’s a primer: au.org/the-latest/art…

THREAD: Missouri House Committee debates legislation tonight that could put plaintiffs in danger of harassment, death threats and physical harm. #MOleg HB 728 prohibits people from anonymously filing church-state lawsuits. Hi all! We're watching and will be live-tweeting the upcoming state Senate debate on South Dakota's SB 55, a bill to encourage posting "In God We Trust" in public schools. Follow along: 📺bit.ly/2RJhCz3 #sdleg Why is posting "In God We Trust" in public schools such a bad idea?
🔺It leaves out many kids.
🔺The government shouldn't endorse religion.
🔺It's part of Project Blitz, a Christian nationalist agenda to pass state bills that destroy separation of church & state.
