In Ballard the City of Seattle is starting to clear the second homeless tent encampment in as many days. At least 12 people surviving in tents here will be forced to move despite there not being enough housing or shelter space available in Seattle. Human Services Department says at yesterday's camp clearing in Crown Hill at least 4 people were referred temporary shelter at The Bridge Care Center and 1 person to a tiny house. 5 others, HSD says, were referred to temporary shelter earlier in the week.

Happening now in Ballard: Seattle Parks crews and SPD are removing about 8 people surviving in tents. At least 5 police officers are here standing around. 2 people so far have been referred to temporary shelter at The Bridge Care Center. ImageImage The clearing started a little tense when parks crews tried throwing away this tent first. Mutual aid volunteers here say the owner just left and shouldn't have their tent thrown away. Parks employee said "it's just a bunch of garbage." Volunteers got the tent into a rental van. Image

I'm at Cal Anderson Park for worship leader and conservative activist Sean Feucht's concert. Hundreds of people are packed together and singing. So far I've counted 2 masks. I've now seen a few more masks but the vast majority of people here are violating Governor Inslee's mandate requiring "face coverings in public spaces and shared spaces, both indoors and outdoors ... where many people are gathered such as parks, playgrounds..." #COVID19

Kevin Connolly, whose father-in-law is at Life Care Center in Kirkland, says if this facility is safe then he wants to see Vice President Mike Pence sit inside for an hour. #coronavirus #COVID19seattle Connolly says he hasn't seen any CDC officials here, even though families were told they arrived Saturday.

Also says there's no actual quarantine here. Patients are walking around common areas, and only loosely encouraged to stay in their rooms.
