Tomorrow, in Part 2, I’ll cover the debut album to present day.

*If I Was Your Girlfriend*
And together we'll stare into silence
And we'll try to imagine
what it looks like
Yeah, we'll try to imagine what,
what silence looks like
Yeah, we'll try to imagine what silence looks like
Yeah, we'll try

Sit here w/ me for 2 minutes & listen to this heart achingly gorgeous instrumental intro...
Try to imagine what silence looks like ...
Try to imagine this amazing 2 minute segment from the NYE show forming the basis of an extended instrumental version on a 12”!

So we got to the end of Side 1 & on Saturday — we’ll flip over to Side 2.
Tomorrow — we have a thread on Prince’s threads by @CasciTRitchie:
#PrinceTwitterThread #3121album
3121 had Rock, contemporary R&B, classic 80’s Funk & Electro but for me it was the Latin influences that surprised me & really made this album standout.
Those influences were more pervasive on this record than any other I can think of.
#PrinceTwitterThread #Come
I just want to take this opportunity to thank a few ‘key’ people who were instrumental in giving me the confidence & belief to share my thoughts (not expertise) on Prince in a public arena.
So after that nervous introduction, the finale to this awesome #MEGA#THREADFEST falls upon my shoulders & it’s a big task judging by the quality of the preceding threads by a host of genuinely talented writers.

A Purple Musical Appreciation #thread on Joni Mitchell @JoniMitchellcom (JM) & the enormous & lifelong influence she had on Prince.
"Mind if I turn on the radio?"
"Oh, my favorite song" she said
And it was Joni singing "Help me I think I'm falling"
The influence that Joni had on Prince cannot be understated or underplayed, it was MASSIVE.
More than any other artist, she perhaps had the greatest influence on him.
Prince held a lifelong love affair with her music & he wasn’t coy about publicising it time & time again.
EK: Before going on to the songs I just want to comment on Part 1 & the comparisons we both drew between ATWIAD & Parade
EK: 86’ Parade Tour was a testament of how the ATWIAD & the Parade songs worked so well together.
ATWIAD (song) merged into CTP and after New Position/I Wonder U Raspberry Beret was thrown in.
Elsewhere in the set Pop Life & Girls & Boys always worked back to back!
Part 1 - Parading The Truth
Part 2 - The Songs
Part 3 - Parade Super Deluxe
PART 1 - PARADING THE TRUTH
Prince’s 8th album released in March 86’. His “Avant-Purple” period.
Incredibly, he was only 27 years old when he made this!
His 3rd & final album with The Revolution & what a magnificent work it is, one of my personal favourites in his catalogue.

A Purple Musical Appreciation Thread on Clare Fischer (CF) who worked with Prince during the mega successful part of Prince’s career in the 80’s.
Most of the Prince hardcore will know about CF’s work on:
The Family album
Parade
Under The Cherry Moon
CF was an American keyboardist, composer, arranger & bandleader who recorded over 50 albums covering a diversity of styles - Jazz, Classical, Latin & Soundtracks.
He worked with a multitude of artists including Prince.
13 times Grammy nominated & 3 times Grammy winner.

A musical appreciation thread on The Cocteau Twins (CT) who were a major influence on Prince.
The first link I ever made between Prince & the CT was during the Parade Tour in 1986.
I attended one of his London shows only to hear the angelic sound of the CT over the PA.
Of course, prior to that gig, I was already familiar with the CT.
They were the press darlings of the independent U.K. music scene in the 80’s.
Not well known outside of the indie scene but if you were into the alternative music scene, then you knew about them.
