original antigenic sin #OAS deals with antibodies and might be important for protection from infection and herd immunity.

T-cell immunity might be key to protect from (serious) disease by eliminating infected cells and yielding cross-protective immunity. 1. Vaccine for T-cells protects from moderate-severe disease.
2. CD4, CD8 epitopes crucial for cross-protection against sever disease.
3. CD8 in protective immunity. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38318376/

COVID-19 is an important contributor to cardiovascular disease.
Therefore the @escardio has made a collection of information on this subject.

1/8escardio.org/Education/ESC-… COVID-19 affects many organ systems, including cardiovascular (CV) system.
COVID-19 remains a pervasive risk, not only for individuals with pre-existing CV diseases but also for those previously healthy, who may develop CV conditions as a consequence of SARS-2.

Some interesting new molecular biology studies on SARS-CoV-2 that yield insight in the mechanisms of disease.

SARS-CoV-2 genes have functions in virus reproduction but also in:
- Undermining innate immunity by neutrophils
- Cell metabolism (glucose, hypoxia)
- Cell biology (mRNA splicing, transcription Protein polymerization, ER, Golgi)

- Many adverse events
- Juggling with numbers
- Many drop outs.
- Control data missing.
- Errors

💉Why are mRNA vaccines so effective?

After decades of trying to make mRNA stable enough to elicit immune responses they seem to outcompete all other vaccines:

💉Even better protection from severe disease after boosting.

What is different about mRNA vaccines that makes them so effective.

My first thought was that #Ukraine would not stand a chance against #Russia in the lowlands, but #Putin dismantled the Russian army from information, GPS, gas and food.
The invading army is unprepared, similar to operation #Barbarossa.
Lessons from other wars show that understanding how the army is welcomed, local information, supply chains of gas and food are crucial for the military success. In general these are hard to manage in the mountains, but there are already challenges in the lowlands.
