When sexual assault survivors speak out, they help dismantle the culture that enables it. It is, therefore, our responsibility to create an environment that makes it easy for survivors to speak out. Sexual harassment is an epidemic in our society that we need to fight head on. However, we can't win this battle without fighting the culture that enables this evil vice to thrive. All of us, including sexual harassment survivors have to get involved to help dismantle this culture. It's like a coral reef protecting rapists and their enablers.

Kyanjo says doctors told him his condition could have been caused by any of three factors, an inheritance of the disease, effects of a serious accident or poison. He further explains: “I checked and found I could not have inherited it because no one has suffered from... ...such a disease in our family. It also cannot have been caused by an accident because I have never been involved in any. So, I was left with one possibility— poisoning.”
Kyanjo says during a typical attack, he keeps fighting not to swallow his tongue.

Proper leadership is back in the US. How long is too long to wait for the same to happen in my beloved country, Uganda? When will our own healing, restoration to proper systems of government begin? When will our State House house a decent and proper leader? God, when? 💔😥 When shall we have a president that is respected world-over as a democratic leader? When shall our country get back to the table of men of respect? When shall our country be regarded as a country worth visiting without worrying about insecurity caused by the government itself?

There's probably never been a revolution that did not use songs to give voice to its aspirations & strengthen the morale of its adherents. We've also witnessed this here. The role played by music in the revolution against dictator M7 will be written about in future history books. For Bobi Wine, music offers a solution to soften the otherwise brutal and violent police. For instance, as he headed to Bundibugyo on November 24, 2020, several police trucks sandwiched his car, and, for the cops on the trucks, Bobi freestyled a acapella to them as they...

This is against our constitution. The wanainchi can't appear before the Court Martial unless they're found with fire arms or army artifacts. When will M7 and his gang members stop raping our constitution? Doesn't he get ashamed? Does he have a conscience? Thread. #UGDecides2021 How do his family members look at him everyday and still respect him? How do you stay with such a selfish man and be comfortable? I lost my respect for all his family for not speaking even a word against his consistent disrespect of our country and its laws.

People who support M7 do not do so logically. No matter how bad he gets, how astray he leads this country, they'd still love and support him. When someone's decision is not based on reason but rather on feelings, nothing can change their mind. Thread. People who still support M7 love him with all his violence and dishonesty. It's a perfect love story of loving someone despite their flaws. When you love someone, you are usually told to throw out logic and think with the heart. You can't change wuch people's minds.

Prior to the 2016 elections, I was involved in some political activism mainly on FB. I was convinced we needed change of leadership in this country. However, 2 days to election day, I was in my college apartment, too broke to travel back to Ntungamo to vote. #UGDecides2021 The morning of the election day, I woke up feeling guilty that I was going to be an enabler of another term of among other things, a poor health and education sectors & human rights violations by M7's security organs. I called a friend and borrowed money. Around 11AM, I set off.

People really don't care about animals esp dogs. I keep asking why? These creatures are only asking for help, if you can't help, at least don't hurt them. In Makindye today, dogs were poisoned. 12 of them were lying on the streets with foam in their mouths. A horrifying scene. In Kla, a woman near the taxi park tied a rope in a dog's neck, fastened it on a boda boda and told the rider to ride off😩 The only crime the dog did was passing by as she cooked food on the streets for her customers. I have a dream that one day, dogs in our city will get peace.

In Uganda, we need to normalize visiting psychiatrists and other mental therapists. Mental health conditions can be diagnosed and treated just like any other condition. There is a boy whose parents were sure he's just stubborn and just doesn't want to study. #MentalHealthMatters Unknown to them, the boy had been bullied at school for over a year, was fighting severe depression and was losing the battle. It's a counselor who met the child once that recommended a psychiatrist. Around 4-5 months down the road, the boy was back to full health. #mentalhealth

Life didn't mean anything to her anymore. All the words I thought could change her mind and prolly make her love life once again didn't change a thing about her decision. "My mother is coming tomorrow to check on me and I'd like her to find me when I'm already rested." I broke down. I knew her not only as my friend but also as a lover of life; a happy and strong woman just trying to make ends meet and provide for her family. But I also knew about her difficult childhood. She was raped once. She was involved in a car accident.

Around the world, one trillion plastic bags are used every year. Then, there are plastic bottles & other one-use plastics that end up in landfill on earth & floating on our seas. The problem is overwhelmingly huge, but it's one that we can all do something about. #ClimateAction As consumers we can try to avoid the consumption of plastic products (particularly one-use products), and try to use alternative materials whenever possible.

Meet Ruby Hall. At 6 years old, she was the first Black child to attend an all-White elementary school in the south, William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana on 14 November 1960. This is her story. Thread. #BlackLivesMatter For her to attend school her first day, men with guns had to make way through a crowd of grown men and women screaming “nigger”, threatening her life and waving confederate flags.

Now more than ever, we need to be more careful, attentive & present in our children's lives. We need to instill in our children values that can help this country and the world at large be better. The problems we face in the country such as corruption & graft stem from parenting. We need to emphasize values such as empathy, kindness and respect for every human being regardless of who or what they are. Empathy alone can help fight corruption and graft as people will, e.g, feel for patients in Cancer Institute before they steal funds meant for the hospital.
