Is generative AI killing SaaS? Looking forward to this one! Mike Murchison and Arvind Jain with Leo Schwartz from Fortune.

"The internet has happened all over again" - Muchison.

"Huge increase in AI demand and expectations" - Jain.

We've been building for 8 years and six months ago there were so many questions. Now we short circuit those questions because of exploding Chat GPT awareness and customers are asking directly for apps.

Steven Levy @wired onstage with the @AWS CEO Adam Selipsky. #CollisionConf. Levy has been on the job for two years, talking about big enterprise mainstream adoption and branching out into lines of business, not just IT. AWS ceo and Steve Levy from WIRED reporter on stage Levy asking about generative AI and asking if AWS is way behind on this. Selipsky brings up search leader in 1997, AltaVista; early leaders don't always win. Amazon has been doing AI for 25 yrs (meaning machine learning of course) and does not consider its LLM behind.

Why do we have such incredibly shitty leaders? How can someone on city council not be aware that they have a duty of fucking care? And they are failing utterly to uphold that duty every day by sacrificing people to some perceived higher virtue of fiscal responsibility which is really bigotry and cruelty in a good suit?

Thank you everyone. This wk we saved two homes + reconnected or kept a bunch of critical services + helped a family w a new baby stabilize +fed people + made sure ppl got critical meds #odsp doesn't cover.

I don't understand this province or why @fordnation + @ONSocialService think it's acceptable that people live like this. But I have a couple of theories: 1. They don't actually know any disabled ppl living on benefits and 2. nor do they care. The federal government has been disappointingly vague on the federal benefit ppl need so desperately. No one

a small theory about why society feels like it is fragmenting right now: because it is. and it's a necessary evolution. a 🧵 (1/?) in the postwar west we had a monoculture for decades. it ate everything. politics, culture, art, literature, media itself: trends waved across it and us and it touched all our lives in ways big and small.

so this cataracts ophthalmology thing is a huge scam posing as an "industry" and seniors are being exploited and ripped off and if you complain, the review board basically gives it all a pass. looking forward to talking to @CTVToronto about this Monday. are ophthalmologists angry people? because ... 🥶

There is weird disruptive anti social stuff going on to try and polarize ppl.

it is very hard to imagine anyone putting time and energy toward this + other shocking, destructive, nonsensical actions.

It is very strange. It feels like interference to foment social friction. You have to have a LOT of hate, and substantial time and resources to do something like this. Like irrational hate + bias. Or things like create social puppet accounts to intimidate ppl and create tension. 99% of ppl do not have the hate or the time. So what is going on?

OMG. These are the scenes that break my heart. Yesterday this knapsack, full of life's essentials, was left under this tree. Today, no one has claimed it, it has been gone through through and half of it dumped out. What happened to this person? Where are they? 💔 #toronto I worry so much about ppl making the transition from housing to homelessness. esp #pwd. it is one of the biggest shocks and most difficult things anyone will endure in life. there's no manual "so, now you're homeless!" there is little to no support.

Absolutely overwhelmed by requests for assistance atm. MAiD is changing the equation for so many. There are so many people in despair it feels like we are going to witness something truly horrific unfold if nothing is done. The federal government MUST pay attention. Disabled ppl are the biggest minority group in this country. We are staring at *voluntary* eugenics. We are staring at mass voluntary death of disabled ppl around this country because they are unable to live. It is URGENT that @CQualtro @JustinTrudeau hold a summit

Why are there so few advocates in the general population?

Is this OK with you?

Why are our leaders not speaking up?

Why are leaders and human rights activists not taking up this charge?

WHAT ARE YOU TELLING YOURSELF WHEN YOU DO NOTHING.

What is more important? What YOU need to do is support this MOST IMPORTANT INITIATIVE in the country demanding that benefits double. the most vulnerable population in #canada is under siege by covid and poverty and NOW when ppl need us most ... we must act. How?

i'd like you to think for a moment about what it must be like to be 100% financially dependent on a system that is attempting to cut every imaginable cost associated with your staying alive. First of all, you are expected to survive on $1169 a month in Ontario. Which means every single person who has ever even thought about this is experiencing cognitive dissonance. Any rational person knows that is impossible. But we gloss over it - oh, there must be more somewhere. There isn't. And the benefits shrink continuously and without

Absolutely fucking livid. Tried to check my mom + i into the Royal York tonight. Not only could i not they threatened to call the police + have us ejected from the premises. Why? I have no idea. You owe my poor mother + i a huge apology @FairmontRYH. Will never forget this. Things that were said to me tonight by employees of the Royal York, a place a patronize REGULARLY and had dinner + drinks at today: "well where is your mom?" "why isn't she here with you?" "how much have you had to drink tonight?" "we have to ask you to leave the premises now"

ask yourself: if life got harder, what could you handle?

if bombs were going off in your neighborhood, what would you do?

if the supply chain was interrupted and much of our food supply stopped for months could you cope?

if we were under attack would you stay and resist? if life gets more chaotic not less over the next few years, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, what would you change? how would you adjust? because it feels like life might get a lot more chaotic and maybe we need to mentally prepare ourselves.

BIG ASK : Hey all. We met Ray last night. He is going through a really tough time. He's been bullied + abused by his landlord. His unit +appliances have not been maintained; they obviously want him out. He sleeps on a thin dirty mattress. #onpoli

He is 77 years old. (1) Image Ray has never been married + has no kids. He is a poet + was a rare book collector until his landlord made him sell his books, his most prized possession. 💔 He is terrified of eviction. @Halfpin70400132 is helping him out. You can see her TL for some pix. They are pretty awful.

if you read anything i have posted today PLEASE read this. we need ppl in cities across Canada helping coordinate outreach and response to folks outside. if you can help in your city - here's how you can make a huge difference. 🧵 If there is a hotel or motel in your city/town, find out how many rooms are available. if you do not have one or there is none go to a mosque, synagogue or church and ask if they will take people in.
