Let me tell you a bit about the medieval Ynfidion.
The native accounts and chronicles contain accounts of these groups of violent and impetuous youths who would roam Wales causing not only mischief but often political upheaval. 2/7
These ynfidion, "hotheads, fools" sat in a space between bandits and rebels, youths raised in a martial society which glorified violence and military prowess, eager for excitement, wealth and glory who would attach themselves to those who they felt were best placed to provide

In medieval Wales land was owned and managed under the gwely system, by which land was held by the family as a four generational family concern.
Land was ultimately a family commodity.

11th and 12th century Powys was an absolute mess. Following the death of daddy dom Gruffudd ap Llywelyn, his half brothers Bleddyn and Rhiwallon inherited Gwynedd and Powys, having colluded and helped in their brothers destruction and eventual murder.
