The post-#Brexit "race to the bottom" looks like a "race to the top", whereby the UK imposes stricter capital standards on banks than the EU, which seems eager to allow banks to relax capital standards, benefiting governments, at the expense of savers:
Here, Belgian Bank Supervisor Tom Dechaene openly attacks @ecb's Andrea Enria for wanting to relax capital requirements for banks that are active cross-border & for his push to scrap limits for the likes of @BNPParibas to transfer Belgian savings to France

Here's a closer look at the UK government's analysis of the EU-UK deal, leaked by @EuroGuido, which claims about 40% “wins” for the U.K., 20% for the EU, and 40% where the two sides compromised.

GOODS:

The deal doesn’t include any mutual recognition of conformity assessments, which would have allowed UK to certify goods for EU market but UK obtained special provisions for "chemicals, motor vehicles and medicines, organics & wine, even though EU previously resisted this"

Strong conclusion from Eurointelligence: "From now onwards, Covid deaths may be EU deaths."

Did the EU not buy enough effective "German" vaccines so to achieve parity between the German BioNTech and the French firm Sanofi?

OVERVIEW: Percentage of growth in new #COVID19 cases in last 3 days. First figure is the most recent.

Obviously, the real nr is much higher, but this gives an idea about the TREND.

Data from heavily infected countries like Iran or Italy may be less reliable.

As Britain goes to the polls, the EU is preparing a brand new list of '#Brexit Unicorns'. My latest @Telegraph comment:

Just how much does Boris Johnson's deal concede to the EU?

My latest @Telegraph comment: telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/… @Telegraph Despite endless claims that it would refuse to renegotiate the binding part of Theresa May’s deal, the EU finally engaged. That's a UK win in itself, but the EU deserves credit for being flexible.

My latest @Telegraph comment: The EU risks squandering its last chance to do a deal with Britain
telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/… #Brexit @BorisJohnson @MichelBarnier Parliament can’t really agree on much:

There is no support, at least not yet, for any of the alternatives: a Brexit deal, allowing “no deal”, revoking article 50, an early election or a second referendum

My latest @telegraph comment: This may well be the EU’s last chance to avoid a no-deal Brexit. But will they take it?telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/…
Thread -> Boris Johnson's future as PM may hinge on whether he can avoid having to request a three-month extension on 18 October.

My latest @telegraph comment: With the prorogation of Parliament, the big question is whether the EU will now soften its position, and make concessions around the backstop:
telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/… Boris Johnson and his allies have been very transparent with their strategy. The idea is to make sure that there are only two options left: a deal acceptable to the UK, or “no deal”.

Ursula #vonderLeyen may become the most hard core EU-federalist EC President ever. She'll push for:

I. Wild transfers of powers to the EU
II. Hard EU regulation
III. Ever more transfers of European taxpayers' money
IV. EU protectionism

An overview of what she has promised: I. Wild transfers of powers to the EU:

- Scrapping of national vetoes in foreign policy, energy and climate
- Annual rule of law monitoring mechanism for all member states
- A conference on the future of Europe (Macron's idea) to improve the Spitzenkandidatensystem by 2020

The Swiss government just refused to back down to the EU, after the EU repeated its ultimatum to cut off access for Swiss stock exchanges from 1 July if Switzerland does not accept an update to the EU-Swiss relationship (which includes ECJ and dynamic alignment with EU rules) Yesterday, @BusinessEurope urged EU Commission @JunckerEU not to escalate:
