They ranged from Kurkihara bronzes (best in the world) to large&small stone exquisite sculptures of #Buddha #Bodhisatvas #Mahavir #Jain tirthankaras, Queens, Kings & commoners, but less textiles. Of course, the rich #PatnaSchoolpaintings are treasured here. Pics1-3 are from there
The other photos are of the first #narrative and #interpretive #museum on the life of Buddha. It was opened in 2013 at the #BuddhaSmritiPark (Buddha Memorial Park). It’s at the site of Patna’s old #Bankipore jail, and now is one of the most peaceful place in this chaotic city
There’s a #stupa, very well maintained lawns, a research centre, rooms for scholars. Lucky to have been a consultant for this project. Sharing some unseen pics from the galleries where #Bihargovernment worked with local #crafts communities for recreating events from Buddha’s life
