Burnout. It’s usually not due to some big thing.

Instead, lots of little things fill the plate till it overflows.

EOY - time for an audit/edit:

➡️What to keep doing

🛑What to stop doing

▶️What to start doing

#medtwitter #WomenInMedicine
Do you already do this?

Yesterday, I started my lists for my Start/Stop/Continue audit.

Like many on #medtwitter, I have lots of lists.

I consider personal, work, community, family, etc

AND break each of those down again and again until I’m really looking closely 🔍

For ex, big items on my “work” list:

👩‍⚕️ clinical
👩‍🏫 academic
👩🏼‍💼 industry
🎤 speaking
💻 virtual courses/Rx Series
📊 consulting/BOD
📚 royalties
🏖 TransforMD

What to start/stop/continue? Have to break each down further...

#WomenInMedicine who can relate?

How would you evaluate items on that list, within each category, or on your own list?

Which is most important when deciding what to STOP - one of these, or something else?

What about when deciding what to continue doing, or what to start doing - what’s got to be worth it to ADD something new to your plate?
#worklife #balance #hcldr #SoMeDocs

/ Last year, I wanted to more time for:
✅Meditation 20 min 2x/day
✅Kids’ school events
✅Business growth
✅Unplug before dinner and NOT check email or phone again until morning
✅Social nights out w friends during the week

#WomenInMedicine who’s got the time?

/ Obv., I had to make space or be unbalanced and unsuccessful.

I stopped doing certain things so I could do what mattered more.

I needed ~10 more hr/wk.

#medtwitter - I know you can find 10 hrs of stuff to give up! What would you delete?

It doesn’t have to be worthless. It can be valuable, important work - but every YES is a NO to something else, so you’ve got to prioritize ruthlessly.

#hcsm #meded culture is just to let it all add up. Never say no. Never step back. Never stop what you’ve started...

/ You aren’t letting people down... why do we always think that?? what you stop=great for someone else!

👉list 10 hrs/wk of what you’d give up

It’s ok if you can’t w/o succession plan. But clarity here gets you closer to that reality- I promise!
