[Touchstone for online liberty: @netflix & @YouTube might be the next target under #NSL]

1. Soon after recent book censorship in libraries, streaming platforms might be the next target of censorship under the new law, as it mandates #police online censorship w/o court scrutiny.

2. In the past, dissenting movies could be widely found on Netflix or YouTube, including the 2017 documentary "Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower” and #HK’s 2015 film Ten Years that predicts Beijing’s crackdown on the city’s liberty five years ago.

3. Over the years, countless pro-democracy Youtubers also expressed their criticism on #Beijing’s leadership & rule in HK. In the past when firewall btw "two systems" still held, these critical voices remained available in HK, while they were strictly censored in Mainland China.

4. However, when #China imposes its censorship regime on HK and chills critical voices online, since the new #nationalsecuritylaw mandates #hkpolice to order electronic platforms to remove, restrict or cease access to "national security-threatening" messages that the gov claims.

5. Unfortunately, Youtube and Netflix alike still remain silent on their stances on #NSL and whether they will bend to China’s whips and censor “sensitive videos” from their platforms. We hope all service providers can put democratic values ahead of dollar signs.

6. This is not just a war on the city’s liberty and freedoms of expressions, but also a vital touchstone for the liberal values that those platforms and the world cherish and uphold.
