1/8. 🚨#Pakistan is seeing massive #LossAndDamage from #ClimateChange as rainfall 2.87 X higher than the national 30-year average leads to catastrophic Moonsoon floods in 116 districts.🧵

2/8. As of the 26th of August, @UNOCHA reported that #LossAndDamage totaled 218k houses destroyed, 452K houses damaged, 2M acres of crops impacted, 774k livestock lost, 1343 injured, and a death toll of 937 lives.

3/8. But since the release of @UNOCHA's report, the death toll is believed to have surpassed 1000+ lives.

4/8. Even if humanitarian relief is swiftly delivered to those impacted — a vital necessity that will save lives in the immediate aftermath — there will be no help from the international community to rebuild infrastructure, recover livelihoods, and rehome those displaced.

6/8. As a member of the G77 & China, #Pakistan called for a #LossAndDamage Finance Facility to be established at #COP26. But this was denied and instead the #GlasgowDialogue — which so far has been nothing more than a "talk-shop" — was established. #BlahBlahBlah

7/8. In this era of #LossAndDamage from #ClimateChange, where catastrophic climate-intensified events will become more frequent and more deadly, #COP27 must deliver finance to address the #LossAndDamage that is already happening at only 1.1°C of warming.

8/8. There can be no #ClimateJustice without addressing #LossAndDamage. No longer can 80% of the world's population (the G77 & China) be ignored. It is time for polluters to #PayUp4LossAndDamage!
