Always good to see the guy your team just drafted in the first round reach a pitch count (115 and counting) in a five-run game he probably won’t see as a pro for at least three years
He got pulled after 118 pitches, but impressively, it was mid-inning even after retiring his last batter. By collegiate standards that’s actually enlightened. Which is why Florida has a good reputation and Singer & Kowar are good gambles.
Thoughts on watching Singer: stuff is good, his pitchability is better. Maintained his velocity to the end. Outdueled Casey Mize; want to trade, Detroit?

I was impressed overall. I just wish I saw an out pitch against left-handed hitters.

Lovelady since May 30th: 41 IP, 24 H, 6 UIBB, 43 K, 1 HR, 1.33 ERA.
Plus, if the Royals hurry, they can get Lovelady up here in time for Players Weekend, and he can wear a jersey that would put Brad Boxberger’s emojis to shame.

On Hall of Fame Day, congratulations to Jim Thome, my favorite non-Royal of all time. We’ve been intertwined in strange ways for over a quarter-century now. He debuted in the majors literally the week I began college, when my baseball fandom went supernova. 1/
I drafted him on my first keeper fantasy team the following spring, and rooted for him ever after.

A decade before Sabermetrics took over and made the Three True Outcomes cool, Thome was its prophet. He holds the all-time career record for most combined HR, BB, & K (4907). 2/

There is not, never has been, & never will be ANY technology with a purely positive effect on society.

Everything that makes life better for some group ALSO makes life worse for another group.
If you’re building technology, figuring out who will be worse off is at least as important as figuring out who will be better off.
It’s not a zero sum game - often the positive effects of a technology outweigh the negative ones. But there ARE negative effects, and we NEED to get better at understanding and mitigating them.

As far as I know, no players with a history degree were drafted in the first round this year, but @The_4th_Holiday was a history major. Maybe he finishes up his degree later on and joins Team History.
