Here is a thing everyone should really come to terms with early on in life: Someone can be very nice in all their personal interactions with you and still be a bad person.
Corollary: You have NO IDEA whether your acquaintances are good people. At most you know they seem to behave well in the limited contexts where you encounter them. Bad people do that all the time.
Though corollary 2: People can say incredibly dumb shit and be decent in other respects. We’re not reducible to our worst moments.
