Investing is not just about Stock Selection but even how much weight-age one should apportion to the stock. Here's stock-wise contribution in April-June18 First Qtr Portfolio.
/n The Notional Gains of current holdings stand +15% over investment value. And the difficult routine not many can do -
/n And the difficult routine not many can do - is about how fast u can switch yourself from being invested to not being invested in a stock.
/n .. I booked profits and exited early even within .... just a few couple of days .... on first sight of weakness with my favorite CCI 34 Wkly <100 and have saved Big Money!
/n ... according to me that is the most toughest job in Investing .. very few have the clue .. of when to sneak away ... after the dream run ..! .. and at times even with no run at all .. and worse with a flat tire too !
/n ... any of those current holding stocks could have given me a flat tire ... could have been Abbott or Reliance ..! .. what matters is ... one sneaks away and does n't be a Martyr to those stocks !
/n ... particularly due to Karnataka elections outcome in mid-May, a few stocks lost their momentum and had to retreat and take a back step and exit speedily.
/n .. selection of stocks is available here .... twitter.com/krishnakhanna posted 7pm every trading day !
/n .. if u keep tracking the IRR ..... will start appreciating the real returns on hand .... than mere percentages !
/n How much %Weightage and Why?
This is a subconscious process that gets into my decision-making once the order is notified on the brokerage. and probably comes from near 4 decades of Investing!
/n Firstly, my past good experience of Investing in the stock and may be I am already owning it, and now would like to scalp its momentum over the next 1-2 months. Weightage10%.
/n These W10 Stocks may end with 15% Gains in percentages over 1-2 months but IRR wise could be even higher at 60-200% return.
/n Second higher apportioning is to the stocks I may have been eying earlier and Investing in them for the first time based on Technical Analysis and some Fundamental Knowledge. Weightage3%
/n Third kind of apportioning is in the stocks that are new to me totally, but are a part of a new upcoming theme. Weightage1%
/n W1 stocks are ego-sake and they are the Bionic Bothams for me, and may even EXIT early if wrong.
/n The Good part of W1 entries is, I gain Investing Experience in the stock and if the trend stays true on every fresh Breakout Opportunity in the stock, will upgrade it to W3 in the ensuing Quarters.
/n for reference of all, the stocks in the PF have been recommended by a tweet. May be a day later!
/n ... portfolio for July-Sept18 Quarter as of date!
