This is most progressive of Ms Patel (formerly the Mme Guillotine of criminal justice). Perhaps we can expect to see her crowdfunding for the appeals of young men convicted of stealing cars on the basis that we should encourage young people to get involved in motoring pursuits.
Nothing wrong (indeed much right) with supporting a perceived miscarriage of justice, of course. But just curious to see how understanding hang-‘em-and-flog-‘em politicians can suddenly become when their political views align with the subject.
Worth repeating that Priti Patel was previously so confident in the infallibility of the state to investigate alleged misconduct that she was calling for citizens to be put to death.
