Good news: Illinois' colleges and universities can start applying for federal funds for open textbook projects to help save students money. federalregister.gov/documents/2018…
I helped create this program because textbook costs are a barrier to success in higher education for students. Up to 65% of students choose not to even buy them. Open textbooks can help change that.
I urge the Department to use experts in open educational resources to review applications to award the maximum number of grants that will have the maximum impact on savings for students.
