Bay Area folks! Thanks for showing up with so much energy last week at the #RiseForClimate march and at #GCAS2018. But there's more work to be done—we've got two events coming up this week to help stop the expansion of the Phillips 66 refinery in Rodeo:
First, this Thursday, Sept 20th join @IdleNoMoreSFBay and Stand for a discussion with indigenous activists and industry experts about how resistance to oil pipelines, oil tankers, and refinery expansions connect frontline communities in Canada and the US: facebook.com/events/2638165…
Then, on Saturday, Sept 22nd, @IdleNoMoreSFBay and Stand are hosting a prayer and teach-in front of the P66 refinery in Rodeo. Our message? We want clean air, water, soil—and that means rejecting the proposed to P66 refinery expansion. Stand with us! stand.earth/action/phillip…

@HSBC @RBC @decolonialsol @350Canada @CANRacCanada @leadnowca @GreenpeaceCA @Tzeporah @Indigenous_ca @ecojustice_ca @Gidimten HSBC is the first of the major global banks to announce this phaseout. Now, all the other banks can see that it's possible to choose to stop funding new fossil fuel fields.

There's no excuse for other major fossil fuel financiers like @RBC
It's not a shock that HSBC exempted HSBC Canada from this new policy – because it's being purchased by RBC.

Instead of trying to halt progress, @RBC can do the right thing and stop financing new oil and gas fields too.

HSBC proved it's possible, it's time for RBC to do it.

@RBC .@RBC 's 9.22 Billion in fossil fuel investments since Oct 2021 would cover 25% of disaster relief costs in Pakistan, as millions recover from devastating flooding.
Instead of investing in climate devastation & displacement, RBC could support communities impacted by fossil fuels.
@RBC In 2022, RBC has lent and underwrote 7.05 billion dollars in fossil fuels.

This is happening while RBC continues to greenwash and claim that it is committed to climate action.
