Re the 7-year-old who died in CBP custody: "It wasn’t immediately clear Thursday if the girl received provisions and a medical exam before the onset of seizures."

We have to find out what happened. Who's responsible. How it will be prevented next time.

The seven-year-old Guatemalan girl has a name: Jackeline Caal. She and her father were trying to turn themselves in to border patrol agents. The border patrol apprehended them, took them to a facility, and separated them. A few hours later, seizures began.

Stu has been doing health policy in the Senate. He worked with my wife, so I got to know him personally as well as professionally. He’s got a kind of radiant affability, combined with a razor-sharp mind and unshakable principles.
He’s the kind of guy who would come over for dinner, read to your kids before bedtime (at their insistence), and then fix your ceiling fan—all while brainstorming brilliant strategies to expand access to rural health care & curb the opioid crisis. We wouldn’t want him to leave.

The conventional wisdom is that voters have short memories and that damage from shutdowns fades fast. But that won’t apply if this lasts for months. Nobody forgot health care repeal. This shutdown will cause more & more real pain. And the public knows who’s inflicting it on them.

“Many questions remain unanswered, including how many children have died in CBP custody.”
An official with knowledge of Felipe’s death told me the 8 yr old had been detained by CBP for a whole week before he died. He and his father were detained since Dec. 18 after crossing into the US in El Paso, Texas.

This is a pretty damning report, folks. It goes into greater detail than previously disclosed, including victims saying they reported to previously undisclosed staff, including athletic David Jager in 2015 and at least two to Dr. Brooke Lemmen
According to AG, one young girl and her mom told Lemmen in 2012 that Nassar's treatments made her uncomfortable. "We get that a lot," Lemmen reportedly responded.
