I've been thinking...
I'm just done reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
I noticed a common trend.
Jesus would heal people of blindness, deformity or leprosy and he would tell them NOT to tell anyone he healed them (Mark 1:44, 7:36, Matthew 12:16, Luke 8:56)....
In fact, in John's Gospel, Jesus' brothers told him, "Dude, you just can't be a local champion! You have to go international, show yourself to a bigger and wider audience!"- John 7:3-4.
But Jesus didn't take their counsel.
He was very discreet about his miracles and healing...
But today, we have ministers who actually ADVERTISE Healing and Miracle Crusades.
I see loads of adverts everywhere when one Big Man of God is coming to town. "Apostle Paul storms Abuja!"
"Bishop John storms Lagos!"
"Prophet Andrew storms Port Harcourt!"...
And these Men of God are portrayed to be miracle workers and healing ministers.
"Come with the blind, the deaf, the dumb, the lame and the demon possessed!"
"The Anointed Man of God will destroy every yoke in your life!"
Jesus shunned publicity.
Our Men of God today don't...
They actually thrive on it.
Billboards, banners, posters and all dot all our cities, advertising one miracle crusade or the other.
Roads are blocked.
Loudspeakers are tuned up to maximum.
Everyone in the vicinity must hear, even if they see it as a nuisance...
The Man of God enters in style, driving a Bugatti or Ferrari.
He wears Gucci shoes, an Armani suit and a gold Rolex watch.
His tie is a Dior and cuffflinks from Dolce and Gabana.
His glasses are Fendi, his belt Hugo Boss.
And the religious drama begins...
Yet Jesus said, "Foxes have holes, the birds of the air have nests, but the son of man has no where to lay his head"- Matthew 8:20.
I just wonder:
Is this RIGHT?
Are we reading the Bible different?
Is there something wrong with our understanding?
Have we lost it?
Are we teaching falsehood?
Have we believed the wrong doctrines?
Are we deceived and we don't know?
Have we lost focus?
Is Jesus still in out churches?
Have our churches become so worldly and the world so churchy, we can't tell the difference anymore?
Are we on the right path?...
Have we sold our souls to materialism?
Have we sold our pulpits to entertainment (with comedians, musicians and actors now "special guests" in our churches) and entertainers?
And now we're in December: "Crossover Service" is the new thing in our churches...
The White Man would have fireworks displays, from Sydney Australia, to London England, to New York, United States, to usher in the new year.
These folks would have parties, drink, eat, be merry and have fun.
We will go to church to pray in the new year.
Why then are we worse off?
Since we are so "Godly", why is our country so damn corrupt?
Nigeria has the largest population of poor people. Yet, Nigeria has 4 of the 10 richest pastors in the world!
Something is definitely NOT right.
I don't understand it again.
Maybe I think too much...?
