Hello from South Carolina, where Elizabeth Warren is making her first visit to the state. Packed house. If only someone wrote about her courting of black voters? (Me. I did.)

That turquoise dot. That's the Senator. Certainly a more diverse crowd than Iowa, but state officials expect black voters to make up 60 -- 65 percent of primary electorate. Would not say that's true of this particular audience
Tweaks to Warren's stump speech in SC. Instead of saying the path is particularly rocky for "people of color," as she said in Iowa and NH, she said "particularly rocky for African Americans."

She also mentions "corrupt" private prison system. Which was not part of Iowa speech
She's also expanded redlining point. Much greater buildup to her stump line about black homeownership being lower today than decades prior.
First Q to Warren is about: how can we make sure democratic candidates don't beat up on each other.

"The primary is really important. Not just for picking a candidate...but for building a movement. The primary is our chance to build this grassroots up," Warren says.
Keep telling you all most rank n file Dems are pretty excited about the big field and the exchange of ideas that it will bring. My story from last month

nytimes.com/2019/01/07/us/…
Warren: Trump, after campaigning on populism, "hired enough people from Goldman Sachs to start his own branch."

Now talking about Gary Cohn getting a "pre-bribe" from Goldman to work in administration and get tax law passed.
Someone asks why not just give Trump $3 b for wall!

Warren: "First we have to open the government. We cannot make federal workers hostages. We make them hostages and they'll be hostages over and over and over again."

Says once govt is open, immigration negotiations can begin
Warren gets thanks from an audience member about visiting Puerto Rico. Crowd also applauds.

"Puerto Rico is a place to understand and see, in grave detail, what happens when a government in Washington works for Wall Street and corporations," Warren says
Questioner who says he likes Warren/Sanders but not mainstream Dems, who he says are too tied to Wall Street.

Warren doesn't take bait to bash Dems, says Republicans are clearly more tied to corporate interests. (Wonder if Sanders would have done same)
